What's it worth?

Post by tonyg » Mon Jul 16, 2018 1:56 pm

I'm thinking of moving on the 220 Cup. I tried an Exige at Leven last week and didn't like it, i may move to an Evora (I might even buy a P*****e).
So i'm thinking of selling and keeping my options open.
I've been looking around for a while now and have never seen one for sale.

2015 Cup 220, Air con only, 8.5 k miles, just passed MOT and Geo'd. Has PP film on front
Leven made me an offer last week
Condition not perfect ( i took a chunk out of the front splitter a couple of days after buying it ) .
Any information would be appreciated.

Evora FTW! :thumbsup

Its got to be worth at least £35k I would have thought.

Best of luck with the sale.

ps might me an idea to get in touch with Jon Seal and Will B to see what they are willing to offer.

Go for the Evora, they are fantastic cars and get better as you get to know them so a test drive doesn't always give the full flavour.

Agree 35k sounds about right. Couple of Cup 220s on PH over the last 2 months were priced at that level. A yellow one at a non-lotus dealer in Newcastle, the other was blue and private sale IIRC. They have since disappeared from the listings. Oh and both low mileage too i think .... i need to kickoff my spreadsheet of listings again to remember the detail :)

What didn't you like about the Exige? Haven't driven one in anger myself yet, but the want is strong just now even if it would mean getting rid of the Evora and Elise to get it!

This should give you a guide price next week after it sells, factoring in someone will have to pay high fees on the bid price.

Suspect your problem will be it is difficult to sell privately for a high value car even if a specialist market, unless via one of the forums to a buyer you know. Hence the trade in options of Will B or Jon Seal, not many appear as private sales.

It was a lot of little things (and it may have been me - i still hate cars where you have to ask the computer nicely before it will do anything for you).

I felt the ride was very hard and crashy (but that could be down to tyre pressures, the factory ones for the 220 are far too high).
I didn't like the fact that you couldn't heel and toe unless the car was in Sport mode, in Normal mode it just wouldn't blip.
I wasn't that fond of the driving position - it was closed in with not a lot of elbow room - but that probably applies to most cars these days apart from the Elise.

Finally - the price was pretty stupid too - £80+ k - there was an Exige there at £121 K !!
I know i'm an old git but that's way to steep for a Lotus for me. - you could buy a high spec 911 for that money and have 20k left.

The Evora i drove a couple of years ago (i think it was a 400) felt like a much better car to me (but they're stupid money now too).

Really? You can get a 400, brand new for what they cost 2 years ago. Was with one owner (traded their Evora S for a 400 in exclusive colour) who got a cracking new deal just 3 months ago.

Agree if you are referring to the GT410/430 - you won't get one for under £90k I don't think. But not so the 400 - a relative bargain and even compared to the Exige 380's etc I think.

Anyone know if the price for the auction car includes or excludes the buyer's premium?

£34k plus 15%

As per Ian's post

So looks like sellers fee deducted from price, VAT added which makes sense, sure Boag or others can confirm.

On the Exige: The defaulting to touring mode every time you turn the car on is a bit annoying. It would be nice if it remembered what you were in but can understand why it doesn't. I still think the button setup is a little nicer that the older rotating selector. But you're right, on touring it won't blip without a double pump and it's irritating.

I'm interested in your point about elbow room. I thought the Exige and the Elise were identical inside?

The rotating selector can be left on the Sport setting and it stays there, but if you have it set to 'Off', then it reverts to the Sport setting if the ignition/engine has been switched off.
