I saw an electric motorbike in action today and it absolutely flies from a standing start. It is so quiet though that in real world use I would be really fearful that it’s lack of noise would be a huge disadvantage and life expectancy much reduced.
My neighbours lack of silencers is a constant threat to their life expectancy (I have an angry wife who likes sleep and works shifts).

I've got a 420d as a courtesy car at the moment as the i3 is in for it's first service. it feels sluggish and the noise from the engine is horrid.
Is there such a thing as a production 4 cylinder diesel engine which sounds good?
I do think the BMW 6 pot diesels sound quite nice though.

It's all relative. Next to a petrol straight 6? Not so much. If you're used to a 4 pot diesel, then they're not too bad. Still pretty gruff at town speeds though.

Very true Woody. Still sound pretty rattly at idle too.

A petrol with an equivalent number of cylinders will always sound better than a diesel.
BMW 6cyl diesels sound better than some petrol fours though....
