The Safari Clamping looks good.

My brother has been and highly recommends it.

(The Thunderbox composting toilets are an interesting concept, mind you...)
Looks good and not a 4 hour drive to get there. Image

What about a "Let's Go Karting event at Crail?
I know there are a few of you out there that fancy a run in a proper kart, Crail now have a Prokart, and a Rotax for testing, and I am sure I may be able to add a kart for the day.

And also agree with Uncle run, a mega trip, taking in the NC 500 and Harris and Lewis would be epic.

The Clachtol camping trip usually has a run on the Saturday which takes in the best bits of the NC500.

Did you leave from Ullapool to go to Harris and Lewis? I don't think that we would get much people going on a trip here due to the additional costs of the ferry.

A small detail which may have gone under the radar.

2019 is Scottish Elises' 20th anniversary year :-)

So it's really timely that there is this flurry of interest in setting some things up next year.

Kathy and I were chatting at the weekend and when the above dawned on us, she floated the idea of a proper anniversary celebration weekend, perhaps back at the Macdonald Highland Resort where some of us gathered for Tut's "testimonial" last year. The exact date of our first meeting, in the Star and Garter Hotel, Linlithgow, is difficult to pin down but I'm 99% sure it was early April 1999. Our Yahoogroup (formerly Onelist) might not even have been alive by then so even Tut may struggle to pull the precise date out of the archives!

Something else to add to the list then...?

What does everyone think?

SE Trackday - i'd be all over that. I also fancy another go at Croft. did that in my mates Westfield couple of years ago.

Karting - up for that also.

What about a trip to Hethel. they do a morning afternoon event for £350. Factory tour in the morning and trackday round hethel in some of their metal in the afternoon.

We could maybe get a discount on that for a club booking?

I think a 20year anniversary bash is as good an excuse as any for a few drinks together. :cheers :thumbsup

I was also thinking that it would be good to do this type of event every two years, but that can be discussed at a later time.

I have just had a look at return prices for the Ullapool ferry and it would be £100 for a car, £20 per adult and £10 per 5-15 year old child. Under 5 is free.

I am unsure whether the additional costs would put people off from coming. I think that it would be great to meet up at Ullapool and board the ferry together. 8)

It looks like the last ferry departs on a Friday at 17:30 and arrives in Stornaway at 20:00.

Any recommendations for a campsite for those that have been across?

There are quite a few to choose from.

I'm feeling the urge for some Sat-Sun trips that don't interfere with monday-friday life, with an overnight stop in a hotel/B&B somewhere on the Saturday night. A sort of softer addition to the Campagasm schedule without all the packing and planning. Just chuck some clothes, toothbrush and wallet in a bag, book a few rooms somewhere remote, drive there on Saturday, drive home on Sunday. Don't plan too much. Fish n chips. A few beers in the bar on Saturday night. The less planning and timetabling, the better. I'll probably propose a few of these in 2019. Maybe Kylesku hotel, and one somewhere on Skye, and maybe a raid over the wall to Northumberland.
Graeme,

I was thinking the same and I thought that Pitlochry would be a good choice for a Saturday/Sunday trip. The weather is usually good there, with plenty of places to stay and lots of coffee shops, bars and restaurants to enjoy. Leave Saturday lunchtime and take the Glenshee road across, check-in and meet up for some drinks and a meal together. Easy Sunday morning before heading back home.

Good chance that we would bump into Stu and Anne and enjoy a gin or two together. :cheers
