SE Events In 2019
Re: SE Events In 2019
Pitlochry would be great. That's exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about.

Thread resurrection.
Didn't have energy to review the thread in case already mentioned, but...
...SE turns 20 next year. In early May.
How about a couple of nights away., access to a few nice roads, partners/friends encouraged, and a big group dinner to celebrate, around that time?
Macdonald Resort Aviemore as we used for Tut Testimonial 2017? Although things are deteriorating there I hear.
Or Isles of Glencoe hotel. Scene of many SIDC Tour d'Ecosse base camps?
Whatever the case, prob needs fair size place. Coach tour spec (!)
I think it would be worth marking the community's "China Anniversary"
10-12 May 2019 I reckon. Avoids bank hol weekend.
Views sought please before I make any organisational effort.

Re: SE Events In 2019
I’m home for this so the date so it works for me. Where we go I’m not fussy.
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....
Re: SE Events In 2019
Works for me. As long as it's not the weekend of 18th May.
I'm also planning the first of the casual sat/sun runs. (Need a good name for these!). I was thinking stopover in Oban on 20th April. Plenty hotel options and good route options for groups from North and South. Feedback welcome.

I think we should start the SE20 in Folembray on 6/5/19, then Zandvoort 7/5/19, then some sort of Newcastle -> NW Scotland Stelvio style trip to meet up with the people that can only make the 10-12 weekend

Keen for Pitlochry/ferry/trackday!campbell wrote: ↑Wed Sep 05, 2018 10:51 amA small detail which may have gone under the radar.
2019 is Scottish Elises' 20th anniversary year
So it's really timely that there is this flurry of interest in setting some things up next year.
Kathy and I were chatting at the weekend and when the above dawned on us, she floated the idea of a proper anniversary celebration weekend, perhaps back at the Macdonald Highland Resort where some of us gathered for Tut's "testimonial" last year. The exact date of our first meeting, in the Star and Garter Hotel, Linlithgow, is difficult to pin down but I'm 99% sure it was early April 1999. Our Yahoogroup (formerly Onelist) might not even have been alive by then so even Tut may struggle to pull the precise date out of the archives!
Something else to add to the list then...?
What does everyone think?

Re: SE Events In 2019
Friday was definitely a wake up call for me that I've let life get in the way too much in recent years and I regrettably let SE slip......
I will definitely be looking to attend more SE events in the future (although 'currently' lotusless).
I do quite a lot of MTBing (especially enduro trails) and would be keen for more SE biking days out too.

Such days out are pretty popular Chris. Carron Valley is venue of choice but some others in range too of course.
Any recommendations?

Campbell,
10th - 12th of May works for us. Cannot manage the following weekend, as I have the Caledonian Etape in Pitlochry.
Happy to help if you need it,
Steve.

Re: SE Events In 2019
Just noticed this so sorry for the late info but that is a murderously busy ferry service. I have a friend who lives on the island and it needs booking well in advance especially for a large group. It's not a turn up and drive on service even for islanders. Just to make you aware.C7Steve wrote: ↑Wed Sep 05, 2018 1:24 pmI have just had a look at return prices for the Ullapool ferry and it would be £100 for a car, £20 per adult and £10 per 5-15 year old child. Under 5 is free.
I am unsure whether the additional costs would put people off from coming. I think that it would be great to meet up at Ullapool and board the ferry together.
It looks like the last ferry departs on a Friday at 17:30 and arrives in Stornaway at 20:00.

Any recommendations for a campsite for those that have been across?
There are quite a few to choose from.
