Edinburghers help - a pub ?
Edinburghers help - a pub ?
Eating in Edinburgh Friday night in Stockbridge and staying overnight in Queen Street.
Any recommendation for a drink or two definitely only a few though after dinner (probably 10ish) somewhere in the surrounding area ?
Doesn't need/want to be best, jumping place or best beers ( but good ales a bonus) as it as a romantic dinner for 2 so more importantly somewhere relaxing, ambience, chance of a seat, can talk etc etc etc as a follow on to our meal

If you both like cocktails then Brambles (16a Queen Street) is good and has a load os sneaky areas for a chat. However make sure you go there relatively sober as you will never find it drunk!!!
Loads of pubs on Rose Street and if you want to go high end there is always "The Ivy" on St Andrew Square. Dome is always nice to go to. Also like the Copper Blossom.
If any of them are rubbish then don't blame me as I am tee total so only from other recommendations

Thanks for the suggestions, will look into them.
And hopefully get a real ale in a pub somewhere on the way to one of them
Did stay and work in Edinburgh for 5 years a while back and we still go through each year for a full day or overnight so just need an update on what's what

Cambridge Bar. Young St.
Is the Laughing Duck still going on Howe St?
The Bailey at Circus Place?
Hector'a at east end of Raeburn Place?

If you’re in Stockbridge, I would confidently recommend the Scran and Scallie, I live close by and definitely my favourite place for food in the city and also great for a quiet drink; great atmosphere and super selection of drinks.
If you like different beers there are a few options of buying different ‘selections’where they give you 3 different beers, all 1/3 of a pint for the price of a pint, all given great descriptions by the staff who I’ve always found to be very knowledgeable and friendly.
The Raeburn is across the road and is also a good bar, much larger and a bit louder but also have a great drink selection.

See Campbell is appealing to my drinking preferences
Result, it is Scran and Scallie we are booked in for dinner and also got a voucher for over £100 so should manage a beer or 2, beer flight sounds good as my aperitif

Scran and Scallie is really good. Love their Fish Pie but lots of daily specials.
