Glad you finally have closure on the whole saga, sorry to hear that it had to end this way though.

Saga is the correct word certainly. A real shame you had to inject so much time and effort into something that should really be a pleasure. Good to hear you are out the other end of this and thanks for posting the details.

Glad it's over for you. Sounds like a nightmare!

Do you know what now happens to the car? Has the dealer been punished / penalised / (Punished is the wrong word but you know what I mean, has it cost them money for it all to have ended in your favour) #justbeingnosey

Not sure, finance company are collecting it as far as I know. I’ve to post the papers and spare key back to finance co. As to what happens after, I expect it’ll either end up back on Haytons lot with a notice of intended litigation taped to the windscreen or get pumped through auction and afore mentioned letter in the post. It’s cost the bank a fortune to put right. More than 2/3rds of the actual loan amount. I can’t see them just leaving it. I hope they don’t.

So as noticed by at least one eagle eyed individual the car had been up for sale at Leven's and has now been sold to a former M4 owner, I found out through a WhatsApp chat the new owner and I are both in... We've been in touch and I've reassured him that the car is a good example following all Monty's good work, apart from the suspect clutch, and to help him ensure that the problem has indeed been rectified fully... small world. Hopefully he'll get the enjoyment out the car that I didn't... It was also making me pine for a Lotus.... Incidentally the guy that sold me the car is also in that group chat.... I bit my tongue and it was sore... I'm grown up now apparently, and I'm not sure it will last...

Why did you not keep the car if the problem had been “rectified fully”?

No it was still dragging when I got shot of it, plus I'd lost the bulk of the remaining manufacturers warranty so any further problems would have been my problem in a matter of a few months. As you know, it takes a while to iron out the lotus niggles which I did not have the opportunity to work through. Better outcome overall for me to hand back.

One would assume that the fin co would not knowingly put a faulty car back into the AUC network and would have it repaired, Lotus also knew of the fault so would be a pretty poor show if they did after it popping up at a Lotus franchise. New owner wants to meet to chat through and check car over.

Eight months.

Amateur hour.

I chased my claim following a bodged engine install by a garage through my credit card.

The Financial Services OMbudsman are a very difficult organisation to deal with. At one point they gave me compensation for not giving me any updates. Then didn't give me any more updates. Then, when I complained, they said they would no longer reply to my emails.

I had been emailing them every 6-8 weeks.

I last heard from the organisation 3 months ago when they "hoped" to have an answer in a "few" weeks - this was in response to a letter from my MP.

The actual ombudsman, the person looking at my case, last got in touch in November.

The complaint is now into it's fourth YEAR.
