My current setup is

Living Room
Trusty Pioneer PDP-436 Plasma (bought in 2007 and still going strong)
Denon AV-2105 Amplifier
Focal Chorus Floor Standers speakers
Focal Chorus Centre speaker
Focal Chorus Bookshelf speakers
Verodyne CHR-35 Sub
Denon AV-2910 HDMI DVD Player (biggest waste of £600 as pretty much irradiated once Blu-Ray came out 2 years after I bought it)
Sony Playstation 2 for Blu-Ray
Sky Q

Kitchen
Samsung 52" LCD
Q Acoustics Soundbar

However I am thinking of going 7.1 in the living room with some Monitor Audio ceiling speakers. However not exactly sure what home cinema amp to go for. As we live in the sticks there is not point having streaming capability as we just do not have the internet bandwidth.

Recommendations

George
Alpine A110S
Mini JCW
Land Rover Defender Puma 90
Land Rover Series 2a softop

I like that the telly in your kitchen is bigger than the one in our lounge

Yeah, bit of an 80s B&O fetish here...

Beosystem 4500 in the dining room as a lovely sideboard topper (Elaine constantly unimpressed) running a pair of CX100s on the mantelpiece.

Beosystem 5005 in the snug with a set of BeoVox RL 60.2 speakers.

Right combo of audio performance and stunning looks for me. Helped by one system being an inheritance and all the other stuff a result of some eBay sniping luck, so never paid current going rate for anything.

Chromecasts do most of the media feed for them - esp dining room. More prone to sitting in the snug and listening to vinyl or old CDs, but have a chromecast plugged into that too.

couple of systems in play at ours, for music listening and streaming I have Linn Akurate DSM and 2 channel Linn Akurate power amp with Akurate spec LP12 feed a pair of Dynaudio X38.
Living room has a 65" samsung and did have a Anthem M700 and B&W mini theatre 5.1 with Rel sub but now has Sonos sound bar and sonos play surrounds with Alexa and sonos sub.
Kitchen has a single sonos play with alexa.

I have also lost count of the number of Bluetooth speakers we have.

All of which sound very good for what they are and my fave is the Marley Get Together. Reclaimed bamboo and everything

All Linn here.

LP12 with Ekos and Troika
Intek Amp
Keilidh Speakers

Have it hooked up to a Sonos Connect with a Playbar in the next room.
Been buying some new vinyl lately and the sound quality of the new stuff is superb.

Used to have the Karik/Numerik (DAC) but sold them to pay for our wedding!

We also have an Apple home pod but the AI is rubbish Siri does hold a candle to Alexa. Apple need to get their collective finger out or they are going to slip further and further behind the likes of Google and Amazon.

Sound quality wise it does sound better than the Songs plays but it such a hassle to set up and constantly drops it's connection.

Oh can I just say thank you for starting this thread.

I was in charge of kids solo last night. Got em off to bed then had to get the laptop out to tackle some urgent work. So I thought "proper music time", sparked up Plex, and listened through 2 Alan Parsons Project albums (I Robot, Pyramid) and Roachford (Permanent Shafe of Blue). Fairly loud on me HK amp and Tannoys.

A brilliant 3 hours.

Finished the work at 1.30am and went to bed happy!

Alan Parsons. Thus spoke the Raven, nevermore ... I was listening to that when I was 12 I think!
