Just saw them too. They sounded great but couldn’t tell what they were. I counted 6 too.

Almost certainly Chinooks going by the noise couldn’t see them.

Impressive things, I remember at Brize norton the sign at the apron where you could drive across said something along the lines of look out for chinooks taking off, they WILL blow your car away

My favourite chopper sound is the hueys.

These were big but I assumed seaking size.

Heard the helicopters around the Pentland hills whilst walking the dogs last night.

Seemingly they were taking off from Kirknewton airfield as port of Iron Python.

Very cool... I’m glad I didn’t see them I’d have been thinking we were getting invaded... they must have been very low over our development as it was LOUD

Heard them again about 2230 last night over Bathgate - couldn't be bothered looking but definitely not Chinooks.

Yeah, when I saw them coming back (incidentally only 2 so I guess 4 were shot down over Alloa ;-) ) I could see they were too small for Chinooks.

Didn't realise Kirknewton was still on the go. Broke down there in my XR2 in 1990. Had to ask the gatehouse guy to use the phone to get rescued...he was grumpy as hell.
