Child seats to fit Lotus harness hole seats

Post by Digital » Sat Feb 16, 2019 5:15 pm

I bought a Recaro Young Sport Hero child seat for my now 2 year old after seeing it recommended on here and SELOC, unfortunately it won't fit in my S2 Exige with the harness hole seats. Does anyone know of any child seats suitable for a toddler upwards that will fit? The base on the Recaro is too wide to fit down into the seat bottom and makes the handbrake completely unusable, so I can only use it in my Civic.

Would be nice to be able to take my daughter out in the Lotus as the better weather comes around :)

Maxi-cosi Rodi (not isofix) fits the harness hole seats reasonably well.
It’s a bit tight to get the seatbelt in but it’s narrow enough at the bottom to fit in the seat without rubbing on the bolsters.

It also comes apart and can be used just as a booster seat which is handy for the older one (I’ll caveat that with the fact the one we have is about 6 or 7 years old- the new ones might not come apart).

It’s even comfy enough to fall asleep in apparently.

I went to Halfords and tried a few. They don't mind you taking them out to the car park to trial fit. Their own brand cheapest booster fits, but not much else did.

Will the base plate come off ?

We had Young Sports and I got one in the Elise bucket seat, just. With base plate (recliner) removed.

Thanks all. Must admit I hadn't thought to see if the base would come off the seat, don't think we've ever actually used the recline function on it before, will need to investigate to see if that might be an option.

The MaxiCosi definitely sounds worth further investigation assuming I can't make the Recaro fit, it looks like Halfords sell it so I'll at least be able to confirm it fits before I buy one.

I seem to recall you’re fairly local to me (I’m in Kirkcaldy) so you’re welcome to pop by and try my seat if you can’t try one from a shop.

I will have this problem soon. although i only have harnesses fitted in the car so i will have to refit the seatbelts so i can use a child seat? how were you going to do it in the 211?

The harnesses just about worked with the cheapo halfords booster, but I think boosters are from 15kg.

It wasn't a great fit, but it worked just well enough to let our eldest have a short ride in the yellow car.

The problem with the 2-11 is that if they sit high enough to see out then they're in the wind, which would mean a helmet. So, it was pretty much a one-off trip at low speed with a view of nothing but footwell and sky. Still, she loved it! :)

I don't have a solution I'd be happy with for frequent use or long journeys.

Silly cars

Eilidh can now reach the pedals and James is trying desperately too.

I got a britax romer to fit after lots of searching. Got lots of help at Halfords and none would fit. They just kept sliding forward even with the seatbelt fitted, I think it was more the shape of the base to fit in the seat. Ended up buying from Argos after bit of googling and I found list of seats that are meant to fit. Tried and seems successful. My wee one just falls asleep too!
