Recommend me a webcam

Post by douglasgdmw » Wed Feb 27, 2019 10:45 am

Looking for an indoor webcam for periodic check ups, essentially use referred to as a "Gran Cam" to make sure one of our older relatives is nice and safe.

Just wondering what webcam people are using and would recommend.

Anything else I need to think about, except bandwidth obviously?

George

We have £40 Chinese wierd brand webcams from amazon and also Nest cams.

The webcams work fine as a camera but storing video on the cloud is a ball ache and you cna't ever shake the feeling that a small chinese man wanking over the footage. Also the alerting is very hit and miss. Use ours as a baby monitor and to save me going to the garage to check no-one has stolen the car!

The nest cams are superb but more like £120 and come with a min £5 monthly sub if you want to access more than live.

So it all depends on your usage....if you just care about live and don't want to view the past then something like this

Would work fine
i3s, Volvo and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

I have 4 of those iGeek camera (in the 720 flavour). They are good and the ability to view when away from the house is fab.
