Probably the limit though with higher compression and single turbo etc.?

Fair point in the comparison vs the older N55 engine in the original M2 but the S55 in the Comp is way better. I read it’s been tuned to over 1,300bhp...

Yeah there are some silly tunes out there mainly just updated turbos and maps, Bootmod3 have fairy cheap stage one DIY maps that get great reviews and lift the S55 to about 550hp reliably without any work, decat delete, charge pipes and down pipes and your looking at pushing 600 odd on stock internals reliably. With pure turbos or hybrid turbos thing start to get silly. 450hp is fine for me and is about right in the dry for the car IMO but I do find myself looking at they BM3 stage one... warranty keep the warranty Ross.

Think I’m going to fit an LSD to my m140i and then when the warranty runs out, get a stage 1 boost up to 430bhp.

Both the M135i / M140i should be upgraded in the following order IMO, and you might be surprised how improved dampers can help with some of the traction 'issues' -

Suspension (Bilstein B12 kit for ~£600) > LSD > Stage 1 remap

And the lower control arms? It's like machining your front S2 Hubs and binning the shims.

I’ll possibly do the lower control arms once I’ve had a proper chance to push it on dry tarmac. Not been much of that since I bought it in mid October.

I’m not sure about the suspension. Whilst I recognise that I’ve upgraded suspension on both lotuses and all my motorbikes and I’m sure I would feel the benefit, this is just a road car. Don’t want to mod it per se.

I looked into what would be needed to ruin the M4s road manners and make it a track car. It’s cheaper to buy and run a Caterham and keep the M4 as a very good road car.

I have now owned 2 M2's (Manual and Auto) and now an M4, not quite as much fun, but a more grown up interior!

If you had to pick another m2 would it be manual or Dct? :drive

Is std or comp not more pertinent? (Probably showing my lack of knowledge as I would imagine the comp has only one choice).

Problem is the manuals (well the newer ones) do the auto blip on downshift so you don’t even need to heal and toe. I do like the DCT box on the M4 it’s nice to have both options but I miss proper gear changes (heal and toe, double clutching). If I had auto blip (I don’t think you can turn off without coding) then I’d prefer DCT. The M4 will bounce off the limiter till the engine explodes too so that’s one annoying thing about autos taken care of.

If you turn traction fully off it turns of the auto blip on down shifting on a manual M2.

S
Comp also has manual or DCT option Sanj.

To answer Ed I went DCT but it was a pretty close call, ease of DCT as a daily driver vs added interaction of the manual. It would depend on intended usage, weekend car would be manual 100%.

...used there is probably a lot less choice of manual cars?
