Main is back on but gonna be days for an SGN engineer to get to us to turn it back on.

Any gas engineers on here confirm I can just turn it on. I.e. check all appliances are off, turn gas on at the main, light the hob then burn that for a few minutes to purge air until stable flame then fire the boiler up/reset it.

Fecking freezing and could be Friday till someone turns up. 9000+ homes lost gas.

Bad luck. Not aware of any rules relating to the mains gas valve but I could be wrong. I have a couple of oil filled radiator’s if you need to borrow them.

Just asked a friend who’s an SGN engineer and he said that’s what they would do.
