Update from Lotus this morning on the new Scottish based dealership:
  • Advise further by the end of June
  • Hamilton area for a repairs dealership
  • Ayr area for a sales dealership
Thoughts ?

Craig for servicing then :thumbsup nice influx of business there hopefully, whole east coast and the north :thumbsup Has he moved Bankhead Medway by the way ? office addresses changed in March.

Is Craig ok for warranty repairs or is that a trip to Ayr ?

Surely to be viable the main presence would have to be in the central belt.

I agree with that , but that is what they tell me verbatim.

"I can advise that we are looking in the Hamilton area for a repairs dealership in the Ayr area for a sales dealership."

For purchases and test driving I can deal with a 2 hour drive to Ayr, in fact I would go anywhere in the UK for the right car at the right price.

For warranty repairs Hamilton is just over an hour drive , but I do prefer the drive to Edinburgh.

Hamilton & Ayr is better than no Scottish presence.
I think it’s a mistake to separate the servicing from sales. I have twice bought cars when I wasn’t looking to change as a result of mooching about the showroom & chatting to sales staff when I had a car in for service.
Locations work for me as well as Edinburgh did but I think big city central belt would be better.

Ayr FFS. Bloody stoopid location in my very humble opinion.
Hamilton ok for servicing but Ayr. Really. For crying out loud. I thought the only things that sold well in Ayr were mobility scooters for the locals.

Average speed cameras down the A77, boring. Ayr is OK for me in Glasgow but a bit out of the way for most. Somewhere central like Stirling probably best if only 1 dealer for whole of Scotland.
