100% I’ll have a lotus again PDQ if they open on Heathfield road in Ayr! Drive past there (pre lockdown) every other week to visit the ‘rents and friends as originally from Prestwick/Ayr. I personally think it’s a good move some great roads round there for a test drive. Hamilton not too bad for servicing.

I’m only a very few miles from any of the current Parks Hamilton locations BMW, McLaren, Maserati, Mini, Skoda, Honda.

Sure I could do you all a more flexible drop off and collect service.
Happy to pick up your serviced cars, go a test and shakedown run then you can collect from my house whenever you want :) :drive

Interesting how many people think Ayr is the arse end of nowhere... (speaking as someone actually living in the arse end of nowhere)

I'm sure Lotus would prefer a central site, but I think you'll probably find it a beggars/choosers situation with a Parks relationship and there's plenty space at the Prestige/Performance site in Ayr (used to be Jag/LR but they built a huge gin palace next door to rehouse those) so at least there's space for a proper presence. You'd probably find if they were anywhere in a more central site, they'd have a tiny corner.

Anyway, for service, the site is far more central (sorry Abzers, I know it's further than Edinburgh, but from a Scottish population standpoint, it is) and that's all that really matters for existing owners at the mo. If you want a run to Ayr for sales, then there are a few very Lotus friendly routes that don't use the average camera'd A77 at all - where's your sense of driving adventure :)

Nice commercial

Commission from Ayrshire Tourist Board?

It’s not central. But it is a nice drive - or rather, we certainly can engineer one in.

People travel to Bell & Colville in Surrey to make a new purchase ... and many even to the factory near Norwich. So Ayr will actually be just fine. Indeed, in the glory days of Subaru, S&S Ayr was THE place to be seen picking up yer new mica blue n gold.

So long as servicing stays “central”. Hamilton IS the arse end. But it IS the definition of central

Got to see about my 2ZR recall ASAP. Will report back what I find.

And eagerly await my invite to the Ayr showroom grand opening. Maybe Mr Robertson can put a word in for us.

I’ve travelled to Southampton

Happiest and most fun new car collection ever. Wasn’t even a Lotus.

I've travelled to the other end of the country on more than one occasion to collect a car/van. Picking it up is one thing but for servicing, warranty and re-calls is something else. Having to travel 200-300 mile round trip for servicing is a PITA even if it is only once a year.

We have family in Ayr and as such have traveled up and down quite a lot. Worst news for anyone in the NE, now even further away. Think I would rather fly down somewhere and drive back same as I did to pick up my last new Lotus from the factory.

My brother had his done back in March - service was good and there are a handful of showrooms round about to fill in the 1/2 hour/ hour while you wait.

No updates to speak of on an opening date to date. Was expecting some announcement by the end of June.
