1,000 mile service
Re: 1,000 mile service
Block Exemption rules state that car manufacturers can't lock you into official dealers to maintain warranty (sorry, just noticed this thread) so it's written in law that you can use an indy as long as they use official parts and follow the official schedule.
The only hiccup it may generate further down the line is on resale when it doesn't have a full main dealer service history - but the prospective buyer of a used Lotus, you'd hope, would be a bit more knowledgeable and be perfectly happy with good indy stamps. Might it affect a trade in value? Maybe if the next dealer is a mainstream one and they have a tickbox for "Main Dealer Service History" on their valuation form.

Re: 1,000 mile service
PCP finance deals can be tricky tho, they can and do impose contractual obligations to use main dealer. Laura’s little Audi explicitly stated Audi authorised only. I guess that could be an Indy if they have done what they need to qualify tho.

Re: 1,000 mile service
That sounds like a sneaky workaround from dealers to lock people into their servicing and given the proliferation of PCP deals probably affects a lot of people. There are also a lot of servicing policies now so that people buy servicing upfront (often saving money to be fair) but also a lot will add that into the finance deal not thinking about the fact that they end up paying interest on that too.

Yeah I have been looking around for articles too that say something specific about the Lotus dealership. All other marques are explicitly mentioned. Am a little concerned.
Re: 1,000 mile service
Was thinking ...
Can Lotus specialists repair warranty items too or is that approved dealers only ?
And does this apply to new car 2 year manufactures warranty only ?
Or does it include the 1 year approved used Lotus warranty for older vehicles from dealers ?

I would like CMC to be awarded Lotus Service status so Monty can do the recall on mine

Douglas Park Mini were good when my brother took his car in for the recall about a month ago - there were meetings scheduled for the following Monday to develop the servicing (& maybe franchise too?) but not surprisingly it’s all gone quiet with the closure of everything so a waiting game again.

Re: 1,000 mile service
Ducati used to have 2 types of dealers/service centres. Main dealer sold and serviced bikes along with aftermarket performance parts from their catalog and then there were service centres that only did, you guessed it, servicing.
What it meant was that you didn't necessarily have to travel a long way to have your bike serviced even if you bought it down south. Used to work quite well but they stopped all that after Audi bought them.
Always thought it would be a good option for Lotus especially now that they are part of the same group as Volvo and in theory have access to a much wider dealer network. As previous owner of a number of new cars from Lotus I have to admit it plays a big part in any future purchases and for me would stop me buying another one if I had to travel to the central belt to get it serviced.

Re: 1,000 mile service
I didn't mind going to the central belt, but with Carlisle probably losing their dealership, that make Leeds the furthest North dealer soon?
