I saw that at the weekend, horrific. Absolutely terrifying that we share a world with people who think that's acceptable.

I think a longer driving ban & less / no jail would be more appropriate. As a professional driver he should also loose his HGV license permanently.

Exactly this Keith :thumbsup

No way he/she should be allowed to drive an HGV ever again.

I don't know, they didn't hit anything ... you do wonder why they couldn't rejoin the other side of the junction, but maybe not a symmetric junction.

Remember the other drivers have a responsibility to avoid collisions, drive so as to be able to stop, or substantially avoid obstacles, within the distance they can see. If you want to put people in jail for calling other drivers to account on their responsibilities, then jail every one that drives at much higher speed than surrounding traffic, every one that drives through fog like it's not there, every one that drives fast enough to aquaplane through standing water in the rain, etc. These driver choices all have entirely predictable outcomes (you will eventually rely on somebody else to avoid you and you run the risk of killing those that don't).

Personally I would let them off with a warning - jail is overkill and counterproductive. There are plenty of people who have committed worse crimes (any crime that has a deliberate, targeted, victim is worse than any crime that was just poor decision making) who will not have received any meaningful jail sentence. Just sayin'

I agree with Robin. I was also surprised by the excellent turning circle. Kept it to lane 1. Skillz

Yeah I wondered if the trailer had a rounded front or something just to allow a madder turning circle. I honestly thought they were going to jam the trailer into the tractor (if that's what you call the front bit).

Maybe he knocked those bits of the trailer the last time he missed a turn

Left them off with a warning. For that. Sorry, starting to wonder who the nutter really is to honest unless you were firmly "tongue in cheek" and I've had a sense of humour failure - which is very possible! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

That's because you aren't thinking through similar offences and the impact they have on others (in this case: no impact) and the punishments they receive (in many cases: none).

Instead you are drawn into a social media induced frenzy that somebody has done something horrific and should be punished. Meanwhile plenty on here have done things much worse, but we're not calling for them to be jailed (me included). For a commercial driver, the punishment is double, because they will never work again (as a commercial driver). Somewhere over on the Daily Mail, somebody will be calling for the death sentence.

Just sayin'

The Law as it stands for many traffic offences can’t fully punish the consequences of an action only the action. In this case the action had no impact but is punished for its potential to cause ( as I understand it).
