My Ombudsman case
Re: My Ombudsman case
Having a garage I trust has been very important to me over the last 10 years of running various sheds. Would not take a Lotus there clearly but anything else older than 5 or so years I trust what they tell me and bill me.
Re: My Ombudsman case
I was speaking to the garage that services our Golf as I noticed the wheels hadn't been off the car. They told me that there isn't enough time built in the service routine from the manufacturer to remove the wheels on interim services. Not the first time I had heard that but shows what they are up against. can still check the brake pad wear but still not ideal by any means.111Robin wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:42 amMain dealers in my experience are only interested in the quick turnaround profit when it comes to servicing. My dad had his own one man garage business for 30 odd years and we had so many customers coming to us with three year old cars, full dealer service history, and the wheels were seized on the hubs, never been off, calipers seized, handbrake mechanisms seized. A "service" to them was just a quick oi/filter change, stamp up the book, wash and vacuum the car, keep the customer happy. Not worth the paper it was written on. He used to take around three hours to do a proper service and still cost less than the main dealer. Unfortunately "main dealer service history" is the be all and end all for some folk when it comes to buying a car.

Re: My Ombudsman case
That's how it is. They hope to get the profit by replacing discs, pads and calipers when they become unserviceable, I suppose that's what business is all about.Mikie711 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 4:19 pmI was speaking to the garage that services our Golf as I noticed the wheels hadn't been off the car. Amex paid out, but TBH it did take about 4 years 20 or so letters and and 100+ emails.
But a wins a win.
