Exige V6 prices
Re: Exige V6 prices
Exige V Supra v M3 .... in German. Dont have a clue what they are saying but I think the Exige won based on the enthusiasm of the driver
Re: Exige V6 prices
If we are talking about Boxster/Cayman, stick to the 6 cylinder versions (even if everyone complains about the long gearing).
The new 4 cylinder turbos sound awful (but not nearly as bad as the only Alfa 4C that i heard).

Now with half an engine

I find the V6 also attracts a lot of driver hate on the road, flashing lights, horns etc, never really get that in the Elise.
Again, I am sure a more modern car would perhaps be better, but they will never be an S1 Elise.

But some prefer to have extra creature comforts or just be able to get in and out of it without any gymnastics which kinda rules out an Elise.

Re: Exige V6 prices
Interesting. That plus the Exige Club Racer review which followed. Albeit I got bored with that one
So what have you learned then?!

Re: Exige V6 prices
Probably nothing more than has been said on this forum already to be fair was just nice to hear/see it in video form. Thanks for asking Campbell.
In summary:
- Exige more torque
- Elise better on B roads
- Elise requires driver to work harder to get the performance
- Elise is performant enough for the road
- Exige can get you into trouble, need to respect
- Elise can use more or the power more of the time
- Build quality has improved(in ref to S2)
- Hard to go back to Elise having owned Exige V6
- Beginners should start with Elise and work up to Exige
- If not intimidated by power and have experience of performance get Exige
- "You don't know what a handling car is unless you have driven a Lotus"
Ps got some price lists from Parks (thanks to Laura).
Re: Exige V6 prices
You forgot that the Exige is more expense, for everything.

Re: Exige V6 prices
Sounds like, if you’ve got the budget, get an Exige. Enjoy a couple years depreciation-free motoring. What’s not to like?
But for less money, an Elise will tick almost all the same boxes. Plus it’s a bit narrower and much lighter

Scott,
What is your Lotus history and have you made a decision yet?
Steve.

There’s a nicely priced yellow one at Oakmere Lotus where I bought mine from

Re: Exige V6 prices
Morning.
@Steve. Exige S2 NA as daily drive a few years back. Before that MR2's only points of note. So 1.8s all around really.
@Jam. Lovely example but dont have the budget for that yet. Even if I did I am not sure I am comfortable breaching the 50k mark.
Got a few months yet before making a decision either way. Certainly dont want yet another summer to go by without a Lotus to enjoy it with. Plus really how much longer will we have the opportunity to enjoy ICEs with a manual shift. Now is the time.
A few Cup 250s hitting the right price range now too appearing on the market. Its just when I compared them all side by side , Exige stood out, even more so when driving. Cup 250 does have a wow factor too though plus easier to fit in the garage.
Nice problem to have really
Thanks for listening lads, happy to listen to any advice too

Re: Exige V6 prices
Great stuff.
Go buy the cheapest Exige V6 you can find.
What could possibly go wrong?!
(And if 2020 taught us anything ... it’s that we might not be here long so may as well have a bit of fun mean time)

Re: Exige V6 prices
Bit of a thread resurrection.
Also, a drift in requirements (for me)
Sold the Cerbera yesterday, but now have the classic Alfa, so looking for something like an S1 Elise to occupy garage space with the old thing for not too much, alas they seem to be creeping up
No rush whatsoever, later this year or even into next year, see if I can eventually get into a Lotus, and stop me from buying another Caterham
