Tesla Model 3
Re: Tesla Model 3
Lolz, I can just imagine what his tutness would have said to all us EV owners
Love my Model 3 performance. I don't think I'd go back to petrol based vehicles again, I've got too used to saving so much money it should be a crime.

Re: Tesla Model 3
True! Although apart from the occasional ribbing for not taking delivery of the Mustang, it’s not a hardship
Re: Tesla Model 3
We've had our Model 3 (LR) for about 6 months, it replaced an i3 which we had for a about three years.
The customer service takes your breath away, although in fairness they have employed loads of children, which is nice I suppose. They don't seem to do PDIs so it's not unusual for cars to be a bit rattly on collection. Or scratched!
Ours had a couple of issues, which required more than one visit to sort out, and the car has a few quirks but in terms of convenience (it gets plugged in in the drive) and performance I can't really fault it.. I do moan about it a fair bit, but I can't imagine what else I'd replace it with.
The i3 was great too, I did have a performance issue with the car dialling back performance after some enthusiastic driving, which the dealer had never seen before... But a colleague bought one just after I got shot of mine and his does the same, we think it's the battery dialling back performance to protect it from overheating.
Design wise I think both the i3 and the model 3 make most other modern cars look very old fashioned...

Does Covid ever go away?
Any investment tips?
Re: Tesla Model 3
Had a test drive in a performance model 3 yesterday and am very impressed with the drive. Quite like an EV and this is so far top of the list.

Re: Tesla Model 3
Total fluke but the leasing company confirmed we’re getting the updated model which is a bit nippier, has the heat pump and a few other nice updates, not due till end of November tho so a fair bit of a wait.robin wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 5:00 pmSecond you could wait a wee while if not in huge rush - I think the Model 3 will be swapping the resistive heater (uses many KW of power when on) with the heatpump from the Model Y. This will give you better real world range, if you can be arsed to wait. Not sure how long it'll take to filter through the supply chain, but will be worth the swap.

Appreciate the Taycan isnt at the same level but drove the Taycan Turbo last week! Holy sh*t its fast! Sounds like the starship enterprise in Sports Plus mode also. Ive no idea what it hit 60mph in , but it cant have been much over 2 seconds - and on to some insane speed in no time at all.

Re: Tesla Model 3
I think all sports EV are tyre limited to 60mph. So around 2s will be the norm . The big problem is getting enough battery to deliver 1000bhp for any length of time ... That's 750kW. The battery pack might be 100kWh. So you get 5-10mins and then it's empty

Re: Tesla Model 3
Observations after 150or so miles in the Tesla...
It’s fcuk quick off the mark, drives very well.
It’s been put together properly, 1minor niggle.
Autopilot is witchcraft and amazing, drive to-from Edinburgh car did 75% - 80%, I did lane changes and junctions and traffic lights. Not having to correct steering constantly massively reduces fatigue.
Averaging about 250wh/mile even in the cold (6c) this means 280-300 miles 100-0% parked up tonight after a wee run and it was projecting 143 miles with 43% left so the heat pump works. That was coming out of the city and then 65mph on the motorway home. Cabin set at 20c heated seats on for us both.
Loads of charging options that are free round Scotland at present via chargeplace Scotland, app is crap but works, grabbed a charge on a 50kw was getting 40kw but battery a little cold and getting full. 140miles for free!
Sentry mode is cool but burns 1mph of charge when on, about 250watts so that compounds the next point.
They leak electrons, typically loses 1-2% overnight there isn’t a puddle of them under the car so must be getting caught in the covers for the floorpan.
One pedal driving is the future. Love it. Probably crash the M4 next time I’m in it.
It’s fcuk quick, like savagely quick
Did I say it’s quick?
Awesome choice so far don’t regret it.

Re: Tesla Model 3
Sweet, welcome to the dark side. I take it you got the Performance model too, great fun eh?
Did you get the email from Tesla about the free winter pack? Just ordered mine, £50 set of front mudflaps and spray guards for free, nice.
Also the PlugShare app is better than the Chargeplace Scotland app
Enjoy!!

Re: Tesla Model 3
Couldn’t justify a Performance with the M4 on the drive. So went with a Long range.

Re: Tesla Model 3
Everyday commuting I have the Performance in Chill mode, the difference Performance mode makes is stupid.. I'm really not convinced there's any need for it
I'm yet to try track mode or drift mode but I think it would be a hoot on track. Still miss the guttural feel of changing gears and the noise though, yet I think my next car will be another EV

I think he would be happy as long as you (or he) drove it like a madman (at least some of the time).
