Anyone watching this with interest ?

New model built for WRC 2021 homologation although don’t think it is going to be used now due to Covid-19 delays.

Yaris, 3 door, new body shell, aluminium panels, carbon fibre roof, 257hp, 3 cylinder turbo, 1275kg, 4 wheel drive F:R split 60:40 normal 30:70 sport mode 50:50 track mode, £30-£34K dependant on spec, some 0% finance deals available.

https://www.toyota.co.uk/world-of-toyot ... lsrc=aw.ds

So similarish to buying a 2010-2016 Elise SC/CR/220 cheaper than a 220/260 CUP

Can’t test drive yet but viewing possible as a pre-production version is on tour.
I’ve booked a viewing in Helensburgh next Saturday.

Might not be as good as my last view but can’t drive garage visit of a pre-production car

PS I know James is

Wouldn’t be for me but then we’re not due a car change for foreseeable!

Interesting concept.

But. HOW MUCH?!?!

My thoughts too Campbell. It’s a lot of money for a Yaris, no matter what tweaking it’s received. Not for me.

Agree £30k for a Yaris sounds and is expensive and there are lots of other ways to spend £30k on interesting used cars which you wouldn’t have to justify why to almost everyone you met.
But as a totally new car neither the Yaris chassis or body, designed and built by one of Toyota’s internal specialist teams to achieve homologation along with Tommi Makinen Racing support does make it a bit different to the norm and shows commitment.

Definitely when they bring out a Tommi Makinen Edition 2 :)

The man himself talking about it.

The end to the Yaris engined 211 jokes? ;)

I agree it's about the drive and it sounds really focused and great fun. Sure a similar cost Golf would seem 'better' but maybe not more fun?

Muggles pay that money for a soft road zombie wagon...mindblown

Said interested in the concept, definitely not same as buying !

Golf was to be my wife’s daily and work car, I don’t think she wants any kind of Yaris irrespective of whether Tommi’s team breathed on it.

And it would need to be http://www.scottishgryarises.com/ can’t have just any yaris people joining although the forum might be a bit quiet but I’ll call it exclusive.

Although based on ScottishElises mantra here would be good, as most SE based meet ups lucky if 50% of cars are Lotus never mind Elises. Got my scottishelises sticker on my Porsché and proud of it :thumbsup

Did you go see them at Helensburgh? I wanted to go but was on Arran that weekend.
Annoyingly I'm quite keen on getting one but would rather have a shot first and wouldn't know what colour to pick.

I tried to book into the viewing at Linwood but they were less than helpful.

Interested to know what it’s like

Helensburgh should be getting their demonstrator very soon, said I’m interested in a drive.

Contact beforehand was good, my sales exec hadn’t driven it and the one guy who had was off Saturday so I didn’t get much insight. Seating position slightly high but not terrible, gearshift seemed direct and short shift, styling ok.

Linwood dealer was much closer but will stick with Helensburgh since they stated their test route is back over Military Road, suspect across to Loch Lomond rather than a loop up Loch Long which would be a great suspension test on roads I know well.

My s2 Elise had lots of one front clam ear ground off in a poor nose down landing many years ago Loch Long side
