With each motor insurance policy that I get I always add on the legal protection and personal injury protection.
Was wondering whether anyone has done a separate Legal/Injury Protection policy so you do not have to pay each time you take out a motor insurance policy?
Just wondering whether I could save a little bit of money on my insurance bills over the year by doing it this way?

Re: Insurance - Legal + Injury Protection
George, I always used to take both but had my eyes opened after a motorbike accident in 2014. I had legal protection and was told there was no case I could take forward against the 3rd party. A chance conversation with our insurance department at work pointed me in the direction of a specialist claim company (Motorcycle Law Scotland) and they took my case and managed to secure a substantial payout.
You can get a much better service using a specialist rather then your insurers panel cover which is juggling their interests as well as yours and doesn’t always fight your corner.
If you look at the MLS website most of the claimants have been let down by the insurers legal protection and turned to MLS as I did
Same applies to cars - don’t go for insurance policy, non expert cover, if you need help appoint a specialist.

Having now looked into this I think I’ll be taking out separate policies .
Re: Insurance - Legal + Injury Protection
Got a wee bit of insight into the insurance industry on a project I worked on. Maybe obvious but insurers don't really care about recovering your asset. The price of replacing a vehicle or dealing with damage is insignificant compared to the millions they pay out in personal injury claims to ambulance chasing companies. Not sure how that informs the legal protection and personal injury protection question but sure as fate the deck will be stacked in the insures favour I am sure.
