It’s time...
Re: It’s time...
Amazing, Scott. Didn’t know about that archive site!!
If I was better at markup languages I imagine I could write a parser or awk search to extract price data

Could probably quite easily adapt this architecture and use glue/Athena/quicksight to render some nice graphs:

To be fair, pulling historic pricing is about the only use I have found for the archive site to date
Couple of approaches there for sure ... could then sell it to Parkersrawsco wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 5:10 pmCould probably quite easily adapt this architecture and use glue/Athena/quicksight to render some nice graphs:

There are a lot of very useful data sets out there. We worked on a Azure Machine Learning project for Tesco a couple of years back pulling data from a number of sources to make determinations (nothing to do with car prices though ... just like to talk about the project when ever I can )

Couple of folk have sent that to me suspect that will be nearer 80k than 60k.
Market Balmy just now I’m backing away till the autumn I think unless something special appears (like a triple
Pack S2).

Re: It’s time...
Agree the market has gone loopy..
Was looking at possibly getting a 997 Cabriolet now the Boxster Spyder has sold and this week sub 50k mileage cars are flying out of the showrooms and suddenly newly listed cars have had an extra £2 to 5k onto their sticker price.
Can't blame the dealers as I would do the same if I was on the other side of the fence. Think they will need to make hay while they can as there must be a major correction coming at the end of this year.

Just looked at the price of 997s (I'm unlikely to sell mine in the near future, but just keeping an eye open) and late ones look to be heading for 45 -50k !!douglasgdmw wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 1:44 pmAgree the market has gone loopy..

Yep - I am a bit sidetracked as which way to go, Gen 1's are better money (but still not cheap) but you run the gauntlet of bore score/IMS bearing issues. So do you keep the money aside in case it happens or do you stump up the Gen 2 money feeling safer but knowing you still have the usual 911 maintenance.
Intention was not to spend any more money that I got for the Spyder so determine whether to wait it out and try later on in the season when cabs are not so plentiful, cheaper and possibly the market has cooled. Always the risk that the 997 bucks the trend then I will need to determine what to do (if anything).

Re: It’s time...
I have to admit to buying the car without doing too much research (and also to buying the first one I looked at and it was in budget), but it came with a two year warranty from a main dealer and was low mileage/owners.
I know more about the cars now, but it looks like (touch wood) I've got a good one. If i was starting again i think i would be pushing the boat out and looking for a 997 Turbo manual (but that would be a long look as they are nearly all Auto later ones PDK, but most have that awful Tiptronic box).

Re: It’s time...
Fairly rare that a cup 260 comes up for sale:
https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11529240
£45K and it might have had a hard life as an ex race car. Thing is, I'm not even sure anymore if £45K actually represents good value in todays crazy lotus market?!

Re: It’s time...
That’s very nice but the price is taking the piss, ex race car = big risk of chassis damage from offs/shunts. That said if it’s been a competitive car and did well in the series then it should be sorted mechanically. But still offers over 45k for an S2 is a big ask.StiflerMR2 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 8:47 amFairly rare that a cup 260 comes up for sale:

Re: It’s time...
I agree, it's tough competition when up against a Cup 250 or an early V6. I suppose for some it will be the ultimate expression of the S2 Exige.
Re: It’s time...
Really regretting letting my S2 go, especially now as I’m seeing how difficult it is to find a good triple pack car. Didn’t really have a choice tho it was keep the car and not get the mortgage approved.

Was in at Parks today having a look at the 250 Cup Final Edition before it goes out the door , there is an Exige 410 20th Anniversary edition for sale approx. 82k IIRC that takes the breath away.
