Avon ZZR's - Tread Pattern

Post by a4drk » Fri Apr 02, 2021 1:06 am

Has the tread pattern changed on the ZZR ?

The grooves look closer together now.

I agree it looks like it's got more grooves. Also note it's listed as dry weather while the ZZS is listed as all weather.

Not sure when that changed as caterhams have ZZS on them from the factory with them on at least since 2016 and many use them as spare 'wet' tyres.

No, I know the ZZS is the wet weather tyre.
That’s my next tyre .........

Look at the ZZR patterns in the picture -
I’m sure someone told me that the ZZR wasn’t road legal anymore and I think they’ve closed the gaps up
Or is it just the photos?

ZZRs lost their E marking IIR, maybe this is a modified version to restore that?

Only ever used ZZ5’s. Wonderful tyres and great VFM.

I’ve just bought a set of AO52. Couldn’t get ZZR as they were not making them. So much so they had disappeared from the Avon website. This must be a new design to get the E type approval back as mentioned above.
