Scottish Elises

Sharing a pic of my ‘new’ car. It’s still a lightweight four cylinder, but four seater too this time - so fully family friendly.

It’s a 1935 Austin Seven. But with a high compression head so probably makes a massive 12hp. If only the brakes could handle the power…

As a relatively "new" owner of a 1963 Series 2a realising that an old car take on a whole level of driving skill. Never before have I had to concentrate so much at a paltry speed of less than 40mph

Also just out of curiosity - is it exempt from the Edinburgh council LEZ zone ?

As my Landy is mot exempt I presumed that it would also be exempt from the LEZ zone but could not find any specific info on this?

I used to ogle these types of car at the Glamis Castle Transport Extravaganza each year and always had the thought that they would be great to have for the right occasion. My lack of imagination meant that I couldn't really see beyond going to things like the Extravaganza in one tho. Superb!

It's also arguably the great grandaddy to our elises.

Remember seeing a Jay Leno piece many years ago (can't remember the whole piece)
He'd been out in his old Morgan three wheeler and had been trying hard,came across a speed trap and thought he was busted.
On chatting to them the reply was "No problem Mr.Leno, you were only doing 45."

Yes, it's a great challenge to drive, which is what it's all about for me. That, and the sense of relief at the end of every journey which I've (a) not broken down and (b) survived.

Re the LEZ, that's an interesting one, and I've no idea. I think it might be exempt, which is ridiculous if true.

Ref LEZ I'm sure anything listed as "historic" on the V5 will be exempt - therefore this beauty, George's Landie, Woody's mini, and my Alfa will all comply.
