Road Trip Pyrénées 2022
8 days / 3000 Km (1800 Miles)
Pyrénées is a mountain range at the border of Spain, with summit over 3000m but less extensive compare to Alps.

Day 1 : Ozoir la Férriere => Limoges (July 18)
Nothing special, a very hot day (40°C), forced to put on the soft top not to be burned by the sun...
Image
We crossed a region called "The diagonal of vaccum" because of the low population ratio.

Day 2 : Limoges => Perchède (in Gers) (July 19)
Image
Nice roads thru Dordogne and arrived in Gers near the track of NOGARO.

I advise this lovely Bed and Brackfast with watch gooses
Image

Day 3 : Frolic in Pyrenées near Lourdes (July 20)
First stop in Tarbes to visit my old Engineer School (1989 => 1994)
Image
In 1993/1994 there were a dozen of Scottich students from the university of Glasgow in my school promotion. They learn to Ski and to drink RICARD the famous alcohol in south of France !

Up and down Mountain pass "Col du Tourmalet" unfortunatly with light fog at the summit.

Up at "Cirque de Troumouse" near the famous "Cirque de Gavarny"

Watch on YouTube

A bumby and narrow road with sheep sleeping in the middle of the road.
Beautiful panorama at the summit.

To be continued...

Day 6 : Montégut Plantaurel => Albi
We leave Pyrénée and travel to Albi thru nice roads of middle mountains.
Image

Albi is a very nice town, very clean, not like Paris who became a sh*t hole...
Image

The cathedral is very unique in France, it's the only one built in red bricks and not in stones.
Image

Day 7 : Albi => Noirétable
A long journey on small roads during a very hot day.

Image

Auvergne is a region with a lot of old castle :
Image

Another nice bed and breakfast near Noirétable in a typical old house :

Typical landscape in Auvergne with middle mountains :

Day 8 : Back to home...

If one day you plan a track day at Magny Cours, take a detour at Guedelon a Castle built as in the middle age :

Some great inspiration there for our possible 2023 adventure in the Pyrénées!

The French Frolic Trackdays finish in Pau so scope for a few days in the mountains afterwards. Maybe then ferry home from Spain to Portsmouth...

Not routes but some initial thoughts on possible target Cols:

If anyone is going through France - our house is 35 mins from Limoges - would welcome any Lotus owner for a coffee and croissant.

We have Lotus over in September anyway for Circuit des Remparts weekend in Angouleme.
