Best Driving Routes In Scotland?

Evening All,
I was just wondering what the group consensus was about the best driving routes in Scotland. There's always a few crisp, dry weekends in winter and i plan to make the most of them by doing some high speed exploring in the Batmobile. I've heard there's a long coastal stretch south of Ullapool that's amazing. Any thought would be much appreciated.
Hope to meet a few of you this saturday at knockhill. I'm not booked in yet but hope to jump in with someone to learn the ropes

Virtually any road (with the exception of the A9) north of the Forth/Clyde are great roads.
The extreme north, Ullapool northwards has some very good and quiet roads, only have to watch out for sheep and deer!
South of Ullapool round the coast to Gairloch and keeping near the coast to Lochacarron~Kyle etc is also very good.
Definetly need to get a wee run sorted out and maybe an overnight stop or two, combined with a hill or two?
p.s. have a look back at some of the threads with various peoples weekend jaunts over the summer for inspiration, also any TT or MT threads have great routes.

Pheasant dodging is also a priority at the moment. Definitely good for testing the reflexes.

Thanks for the tips, I'll have a look at past threads aswell. Yep, a few hills and an overnighter is what i had in mind aswell.

True, I forgot Kenny hit one on the borders run a couple of weeks ago, I managed to miss a few, and a cow that AndyG 'disturbed'

Ullapool to Durness is probably my favourite. Fantastic road.

M8 Edinburgh to Glasgow at rush hour! Sheer joy!

There are 3 passes through the leadhill which can make for a very enjoyable few hours.
They can also be brough into a east/west run by coming down from Edinburgh to Abington through one of the passes and into Galloway.
Search for Shug's birthday run for the map.

St Mary's Loch road from Moffat is genial. Some great B roads of that to towards Newcastleton.........I've caught myself laughing to myself on this road and contrary to popular opinion that isn't something that happens that often!
Alternatively the Isle of Arran is like a giant go-kart track if you head across that way
Ullapool to Durness and then on to John Ogroats was pretty sweet also.
Longing to try Applecross next year.....balding A048's and lack of time have cut me short of making it there this year, although Neil P and I nearly diverted that way when we ran my car in.
There's just so many genial roads........

Yup, that's a great road!
I also really enjoyed the roads down in the borders a few weeks back. Do a search for borders run . . . The St. Mary's Loch road is great, and AndyG tells me it was voted best drivers' road in the UK!

I'm sure that a few years back the Duke's Pass was voted one of the WORLD's best driving roads!

Roger,
Edinburgh to Moffat via St Mary's Loch is one of my favourites so far, 8 am on a sunny saturday. Really fancy an Arran trip though, don't suppose they do ferry tickets based on the weight of your vehicle....

Take care getting on the ferry! Its quite a low one, but they were really friendly when i went over. Everyone was happy to help guidel the Elise slowly on and off to avoid grounding it.
The roads are empty and genius fun. mostly 2nd and 3rd, with a few bits of 4th. It would make for a sound outing next year if we got the weather for it!
