...... so as the exige is now staying (until I change my mind / find a buyer

) I fitted the 2bular exhaust I have tonight.
Easy swap from the stage 2, first impressions are the 2bular is light and looks

.
Get it on / lined up spark it up and sounds very similar to stg2. Once warmed up, quite a different sound. MUCH louder on the throttle (and nicely high-pitched) but at 3k rpm on steady throttle it is quieter.
Had to give it a test run through the clyde tunnel tonigh (of course) sounds

.
Its the 4.75" dia Ultra btw. Def thumbsup!

Was that the noise of your handbag hitting the deck G? (bit lost there)
jamie, its not a GT3 one like yours, when on the car it looks like a slightly extended stage 2 - you can see the pipes more than before.
Stage 2 here if anyone is looking for one?

Been humming and hawing over whether to go for Stage 2 or 2bular, but if your Stage 2 is on offer, then I could definitely be persuaded, since it'll obviously be cheaper than buying a brand new one.
How much you looking for?

Oh. My. God. My insurance company (Admiral) want £90 if I add the Stage 2 exhaust and £119 if I add the exhaust along with a Hurricane.
Has anyone else had to pay that much for mods?!?

You're getting raped because you have just started that policy.
Fit them anyway and just not tell them. Most do.

I dont see why it should make any difference, its a lotus part. Now you see why they are cheap in the first place, cos they shaft you later on!
Last year they wanted £15 to change the reggy plate on my documents. Small bit of complaining, they waived it. They are at it!

No increase in my insurance for exhaust or induction mods

Who you with Kenny?
I just called Lotus and they said that the Stage 2 should not be considered a "modification" by insurers as Lotus themselves consider it as an "accessory" and it can come as standard on a car straight from the factory.
I'll be giving Admiral another call later . . . !

Adrian Flux, they dont charge on the first 3 mods, provided they are not huge turbos or superchargers. Exhaust, induction, brakes, suspension etc are not charged any extra.

Thats also how I would view it although I am confident the insurers wont see it that way

That's bollocks isn't it? The stage 2 has "track use only" stamped on it because it's too loud so they can't fit it to any car as standard unless they put it through SVA.
You probably have 4 choices:
a) stump up the cash to get it covered as it
is a mod (call it an accessory if you like it's still a change from the standard spec.)
b) don't declare it and take a chance that it doesn't make any difference if you need to claim or
c) don't fit it
d) change insurer and lose a bit of your premium but get free mods and maybe track cover
