So those that know may well will know that I have made the the mature? obvious decision to put long term family stability ahead of Lotus driving shenanigans. Vicky is still carefully covered and stored securely waiting for the appropriate time to come back to life. I think I am three years away from that when I reach the appropriate age to take early retirement.

I already have the date in the diary for when I can make the phone call to Craig Moncrief to say " I might have a job for you, how do you fancy a restoration project ? "

There is something to be said for patience.

I have been lucky. The companies I have worked for have, with no real effort on my part, have given me a humungous pension pot to live on. I know of a few of the "older" gentlemen on here who are wise enough to think of the future and direct there situations so that they can retire earlier than most. I wouldn't have considered early retirement if it wasn't for the "wise men" that I have been fortunate to learn from.

The best advice I can give is, get them drunk and then listen carefully to what they tell you.

Throw as much as you can to your pension. buy OLD cars that don't loose half their value in two years. And drive them as much as you can... .... I had an S4 Avant for 5 years and only lost 6k on it.

I miss you guys. Wish you didn't need a V6 to keep up. The last run we were on was too fast for me, I didn't have the power to make the overtakes to keep up.

P.S. an MX5 (wife's car) is not a suitable replacement for an S1. fcuk thing nearly killed me. No front end grip and no power under 4k revs.
Heated seats are awesome... drove at night through Glencoe at -2 with the roof down and it was awesome.

Would be nice if you had a look at the stuff I'm posting on Youtube.
Maybe even subscribe.... meh...

Hello John,

Hope that you are keeping well and glad to hear that you are still with us and it looks like you’re having a relaxing time drinking into the small hours. Hopefully we could try and organise a social meet later in the year for lunch somewhere and possibly a little run too, albeit at the appropriate speed especially if there is a group. It would be nice to see you again, as it’s been a few years now.

We had a good get together on Hogmany with a few of us meeting up for brunch. We had a gentle run out from Aberdeen to Braemar and the same on the way back home. Social cruise, nothing more and the ‘driving’ can be left for another occasion. We even had Campbell make the trip too over the Glenshee Road with young James.

Hopefully see you soon and nice to see you posting instead of lurking.

Steve.

Ps I haven’t been up drinking all night, just up early to go for a run. Unfortunately it’s more the physical kind. :cheers

Great to hear from you, John

A wise word from me. Don’t wait til you actually retire to commission the Vicky Revival. It won’t be the work of a moment. Instead, why not time the completion for the day you retire? What a celebration that would be

Craig’s favourite phrase for Lotus work is “that’s on back-order, mate”

So it pays to plan ahead…

(Unless the Resto Project is intended to keep you out of mischief once you’ve got too much time on your hands!)

I take it you’ve had a look at what Analogue Automotive have done with the S1. Truly inspirational.

Hopefully see you before you retire

Which part do you insert in the above space to show the relevant video page and not just the link? I cannot remember.

Don't be thinking you need a V6 for road runs. V6s are awesome but need to be driven hard to be fun. So while they disappear off into the horizon, you can be satisfied that the purity of the experience you are having is unrivalled. Viva la S1!
