Hey Tut. Were you ever issued a military watch while in the forces?

I still have a couple of aircrew watch straps, the watch was handed back in

I was issued one as a pilot in the Royal Marines, a nice chronometer, but I forget the make, and had to hand it back in.

I was presented with a gold International (IWC) by the Sultan in Oman, but sold it after I left as I have not worn a watch for 30 years.

They still do the same watch, but the cost now is an eye opener.

Big Pilot’s Watch, Ref. IW500402 in 18 ct. White gold with dark brown crocodile leather strap

The Big Pilot’s Watch is the flagship and, for the time being, apogee of the horological high-altitude flights by IWC. Everything that is good and intricate, and has proven its outstanding worth in the long history of the mechanical watch at IWC, is now combined together in the manufactory 51110 calibre – the world’s largest automatic movement. >>

Very nice.
Just wondered.
I'm a self confessed geek when it comes to watches.

You would not want an issue watch now, despite that fact the supply system still treats them like the crown jewels they cost (Including postage to the Falklands) £7.50 and they look like the "my first action man watch" from Argos.

I have no idea but it's bollocks and is replaced by every crew ASAP in my experience. Only the baby crews have them cos they are free and they are (For aircrew!) poor.
