Parking in Central Glesca?

Post by rossybee » Tue Nov 28, 2006 9:17 pm

Hi everyone, not been on S_E for a while

Looking for some advice/help from some of you Glas vegas dudes/dudettes

Wifey, kids & I are staying in an Aparthotel on Elmbank Street near Bath St on Sat 9th Dec and am looking for someplace safe to park the RS6 overnite (please dinna laugh  )
Was gonna take the train (yuk) but we're going to Xscape at Braehead on the Sunday, so car is needed.

I'm happy to pay for someplace that I'll be comfy with, SWMBO suggested a 24hr place near George Sq :? - any knowledge of this?

Any suggestions/offers of secure parking most welcome

TIA :D

Think (your) SWMBO is talking about the one in Mitchell Lane. It isn't cheap but its probably one of the most secure around there. There are a few more up by Sausageroll Street too which might be closer to the hotel.

Lets be honest that wasn't much help was it

Fcuking jet lag :x
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

I would personally go for one of the city council multi-storeys. The Q-Park and NCP multi-storeys are ridiculously priced for overnight stays. The city council ones are only about £1 or £1.50 for the entire night, from 6pm til about 8am.

I park the Elise in the city council ones all the time and have never had any problems (although I do always try to get an end space since having the Elise). Also used to park my Civic in them and never had a single dent or theft in a couple of years of parking there regularly. They are manned and have CCTV.

Nearest city council one to Elmbank Street is probably the Cambridge Street car park. If you go down a floor from the entrance rather than up the way, you'll usually find it's quieter.

Does anyone else not see the irony of a bloke from Dundee worrying about car security in Glasgow?

Never used that one Ross, but if it's like the rest of the city council ones, I'm sure it'll be fine. If you try it and don't feel comfortable with it, you should go for the Cambridge Street one, which is not much further away and I can vouch for that one! :thumbsup

Thanks for the views, chaps

However, wee change of plan - another source voiced concerns over leaving an RS6 overnight in any of these car parks  , so Plan B was sprung upon - cancelled the hotel, staying at my B-I-L's flat in East Kilbride, train intae Glesca on the Sat (which means I get a bevvy 8) ) and a quicker run to Braehead on Sunday for tobogganing

Happy days
