E-Bay shenaegans

Evening all,

I have sold a keyring to a Belgian bloke who is requesting my IBAN BIC/SWIFT numbers so he can pay. Does anyone know what he is talking about? I've told him to poke off and use paypal, but is he legit? Sounds somewhat fishy and I'm debating weather to report him

They are bank info for international transfers - like a euro-wide version of sort code / acc no . I use them when sending money to Europe.

Surely for something which I am guessing is not big bucks paypal has got be easier, as anytime I do it it costs. A lot.

IBAN = International Bank Account Number
Seems perfectly legit but you'll need to ask your bank for the info.

Ignore it! The logon button provided will link to some other site which will send your details straight to Nigeria where they will be used to flog an F430 for £80k

I have used this before , I am with the Halifax / BOS and the IBAN/ BIC numbers are on my bank statement . Did not cost me a penny though he had to pay extra due to the exchange rate.

Genuine messages from ebay will appear within "my ebay". Anything else sent to other mailboxes should be ignored. I think

Thanks guys, it's only £16 so he can follow the instructions and use paypal, it works (AKA I can work it!) and doesn't cost much.

Just had a dispute with PayPal, and considering whether to use them again.

I sold my sons PS2 last month, amount paid into my account straight away, then three weeks later PayPal inform me that they are applying a chargeback to my account of the whole amount, plus their fee, for unauthorised use of the sellers C/C

Do not have the full details, but probably the young buyer used his fathers card to pay for it. Just been told that it has been resolved and that I will be credited back, but again they have applied another of their fees, a total of £15, and it seems I have no comeback.

Of course there is no contact possible with PayPal by phone, and their e-mail is the usual automated messages.

Lawers and Solicitors do not have the monopoly on ripping off after all.

Why are you paying for his mistake? Seems very odd, it's not like you caused the problem, surely this is between the CC coy and PayPal for authorising it?!?

I had a situation a few months ago where I sold an item on ebay, then sent it to the buyer's address, as detailed on their ebay details. It turned out that the address they had given was not their own (why any honest person would do that I have no idea). They claimed they never recieved the goods, and claimed back their money through paypal. I was raging at the time, as clearly, they were using a false address, getting the goods, then getting the money back. Paypal were really useless in helping me, saying it is the buyer they protect

Not so hacked off now (as was only £10 or so) but now a lot more wary.

Good to get paypal tel number... would have been usefull a few months ago
