Car mats

Post by skellyjohn » Wed Dec 20, 2006 5:04 pm

I've just managed to melt and shrink my car mats when I decided to give them a wash. On hindsight, 'white cottons' was maybe the wrong setting.

Does anybody know where I can get car mats to fit? £45 and a trip to Edinburgh for mats seems too much.

I think Lotus had a sale of mats about 4-5 months back but I do not know whether they were £45.

As usual try Hanger 111 (about £40) or eliseparts as they probably do them.

Also could try Christopher Neil as they sometimes have similar Lotus product equivalents available.

stephen said the same thing to me about the lotus sale, but had a look on website - none there. Might give them a call tomorrow.

Shame there are no standard S1 mats on there, Ian needs a set.

Mind you, the "original" Lotus ones were very poor, wrinkled up under clutch foot action etc.

Tut - of all people! - recommended hard-backed versions from Motobuild Racing, and I ordered those a year or two after I got the car. Much better, and despite several soakings and getting pretty foosty at times, a good shampoo then blast with the hose and they come up good as new every time.

Motobuild don't seem to sell carpet mat sets any more...anyone got any idea where this type might be sourced now? Google search wasn't particularly informative.

Eliseparts do (did?) a set of fitted rubber mats. I got a set of these a couple of years ago as I coudn't stand the carpet you get in the S2. They fit both S1 and S2 if I remember.

Thanks Derek. Got possibilities.

Think carpet is the preference though. Eliseparts do those also, but look a wee bit like the thin Lotus version I was complaining about!

And from your signature...so the orange bombshell gets to stay, huh? Just as well, that is one of THE best looking Elises I have ever seen :-) Just couldn't believe it that time I saw it at Lawrence's.

Hm, yep, but think those are the crinkly ones again.

Who has most recently bought a set of S1 mats, with the hard rubber backing? If anyone?!
