OPINIONS PLEASE - Alloys refurb?

Post by r055 » Thu Dec 21, 2006 3:45 pm

Guys (and gurls),
i'm toying with the idea of getting my set of 111s 6 spoke wheels powder coated in black so i have a set of Summer/ winter wheels or Road/ Track wheels (if i can pop my track cherry!)

do you think the red car suits the black wheels? I think it looks awesome on a red s2 exige, but not too sure on an S1 for some reason.

what do you think?

Looks good to me.

I had my S1 wheels done by a place in city centre, was £150 all in, dont know if you already have a place in mind to do them.

ive not had any quotes yet, but my mate had his bike rear wheel done in a place - IIRC 40/45 quid per car alloy wheel from there

It was the cheapest I found, that was paying cash  . A few places say its £35 a wheel then bump on £6 for removing / refitting / balancing tyres etc. Details are in the offers section.....

Anyone had a close match for the `slightly` metal look of the oringinal S1 5 spokers. I had my wheels refurbed by somewhere near Dalkeith and although they look great the colour is a more flat silver and not the original look. I had no options though, this time round i`d like a decent match.

Silver looks better on the red IMHO!

Red cars are tricky IMHO. I say silver is the new black when it comes to wheels, especially so on Red cars. Red & black as an exterior colour (I have to be careful here :D ) reminds me too much of MFI black ash furniture my mates used to have in their bedrooms when I was a kid

Silver is better.
If you really want a black set buy a set already done as this will be much cheaper.
Alternatively get some in need of refurb as these will be less expensive and not change things cost wise for you.
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!

Ross, I got mine done in chrome black. They sometimes look silver and the sometimes look black. It was a place just outside Airdrie that done them.
s1 111s (kind of)
