Hi,

Just been sent this email:

Not sure we would want to make SE too public??

Was sent to me in the capacity of another motorsport club.:

Hm. The last Scottish motoring show I vaguely remember was pretty lukewarm.

We're no longer at the stage where we need to significantly swell club numbers to help get trackdays organised, etc, so we don't especially need any exposure/publicity etc (in any case, our heavier right footed members already manage that for us a couple of times a year up north somewhere!!!)

On the other hand, it would be quite fun to have some featured material on SE in the TV archives of this decade. But who would we put up to be interviewed?! Answers on a postcard to the usual address...

I think publicising this around SE members is just fine, and anyone who wants to put themselves up for it is very welcome to go for it. They may not even choose to mention the club...but if they do, I'd hope they'd respect our unwritten constitution, and present a positive image of the fun we have, the camaraderie we achieve, and the incredible "help thy neighbour" attitude which surely collectively has saved us all tens of thousands of pounds.

Hi all,

I had a call from Ruth at Tern Productions this morning. As previously discussed they are producing a new motoring program for STV. She now has slightly different requirements than maybe discussed previoulsly. I'm sure some SE'rs could do something here? See her email to me below:

Hi Dominic

Nice to talk to you earlier. As promised, here is the info on what I am looking for.

We are making a new car show for STV, which is a consumer programme for Scottish motorists. One of the more light hearted items we are doing is a feature called 'Car Swap'. For this I am looking for people who are passionate about their car and whose car defines their lifestyle. For the feature they will swap cars for the day to see how they cope with their life in someone elses car. Obviously the person must have a sense of humour and be willing for someone else to drive their car for a few hours. (this will be covered by our insurance).

Hope this gives you an idea of what I'm looking for, give me a call if you need any more info.

Thanks for your help Dominic!

Ruth

Heh - I might reply to that - be a laugh to see someone struggling to get in and out of the Caterham.

Could even try and get some free advertising for the traders on here by having "sponsors" logo attached here and there :D

you do realise that you'd end up swapping with a vicky pollard type girl in a luminous pink 1.0l corsa?
and she'd take your pride and joy into strathy park!

I used to do the Strathy park bit when I was younger so not biggy for me - and besides it's not my pride and joy - it's the caterham :D

I think the whole thing would be fairly well staged, and followed by film crew, so doubt anything untoward would happen. Sounds like it could be a laugh.

I think you`d be the kind of character they would be after mac. Keep me a space on the cat for a www. sticker if you go for it.... :D

Giving you d be trading a caterham, you`d get to swap with someone who drives a hummer or the like....

edited to add:

just remember to not try and put your legs behind your head.

We could always get shug to get in touch with her, as a Mecedes owner?.. for you to swap with.... in fact, I have a plan: Anyone on here with an unsual car (other than the Liz), could arrange to do our own in house swaps... on their insusrance 8) . Now, Renmure, your new 355, how would you like to try my Astray for a day
