Laptop Advice

Post by Tom » Fri Dec 29, 2006 9:06 pm

am looking to buy a laptop, but can't afford to spend a huge amout of cash (same old story). want to get a reasonably decent spec and after looking around have come up with this:

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/ ... oid=-31211

1Gb RAM
2Mb Cache
1.6Gb chip
etc etc

any advice?? either on Compaq, or dealing with pcworld??

cheers :thumbsup :thumbsup

ps a belated Merry Christmas to all the SEers :cheers

I'm no I.T. expert, at all, so take this advise carefully  .

Louise & I are both on our 2nd laptops( in the past year (after break in)), both Dells, which have been good for us. Cheap & reliable. I would think for your budget, you could maybe get a better spec from dell. IMHO

PC World are generally known as sh!te but the price seems alright.
I wouldn't buy a DELL after seeing the rubbish they make now. We use then at work and out of 50ish machines, we've had to replace at least 10 of them just because of p!sh parts. 20% failure rate is pretty poor :thumbsdown
And they're overpriced too IMHO.

Wendy and I both have Compaq laptops at home and have had no problems with them.
Mine is on for hours most days and has always been good.
Wendys came from PC World and at the time the proce was pretty hard to beat anywhere else.
