Anyone been past this when tootling around Aberdeen? (i.e. does it look clean, decent price, worth me hauling my ass up there on Sunday?)

It does look like a good price...
Strange it has a longtail roof, I thought these changed in June 2002 (this car is a 52 plate so registered between september 02 and the end of the year.
I'll easily drop in past tomorrow to cast an eye over it for you.
Cheers,
Ali

That looks good for the money. If the history is in order that could be a good buy.
I had a 52 plate S2 which had the "no tail" roof (and hard top) and it was December 2002. Not sure when the change over was either Ali.
Likewise, if at a loose end I could pop past and have a look for you and give a general impression on its condition.

The change to short tail roofs was from '02 cars on so it must've sat around at a dealer before being registered.

Sorry, don't know anything about this particular car. Also not really up to date with regards to prices, however, never backward at coming forward, here is my tupence
I would try and hold out for a short roof, a bit less hassle and perhaps help re-sale.
If your budget allows, would be well worth trying to stretch to a 111S. Again a more desireable car with regards to re-sale but also more likely to have that extra power that you will probably be looking for after a few months of ownership.
I appreciate that you probably have a trade-in so you may not have that many options open to you without getting shafted on the trade in price.
Good luck

I wouldn't let the size of tail put you off a good car - after all longs can be made short if required.
I really like the long tails.

The only reason I can see to convert it would be to get a hardtop and to do that is £2k plus fitting so I'd look for a short roof one if you want a hard top.

Shorts are easier to fit/remove...

I prefer the looks of the long tails. I'd go as far as to say if I every got another elise I would be looking to trade roofs and roll covers with a long tailer.

Well I had a look at it. Couldn't drive as it's tucked up in the showroom.
Some confusion over the spec, it definately looked like a Sports Tourer but the dealer said he'd contacted Lotus and they told him it was a std car with extras, drilled disks, 4 speakers (it had an aftermarket Alpine head unit) carpets etc. and had a factory 135 upgrade.
Exhaust and induction standard and oil and coolant are clean. Initial servicing at Bell and Colvill then one at MMC. The last service was a 'B' at Bavaria Auto Werke in Aberdeen.
Interior looked tidy but some cosmetics on the outside. It's had a fairly light scrape down the nearside so will need front clam and sill repaired and painted (rear clam seems to have escaped) and both nearside wheels are marked. It doesn't look like a big impact but I'd still recommend a geo. Front clam has holes through under both 'ears' and drivers door needs a touch up on the end (looks like it's been opened into a wall a few times!). The dealer did say the cosmetics will be repaired.
Brakes look ok, disks fine, rear pads needed soon and fronts maybe 1/2 worn. Nothing obvious in the suspension/dampers.
Steering is loose which may mean a new rack, it could just be the UJ's in the column needing tightened.
Cheers,
Ali
