Being nosy I have followed the mortgage thread with interest. On a similar line what is your car history? I realise that sum of our senior members might have quite a long list but that will be interesting in itself.
No leaving out the embarrassing ones!!
1965 Landrover Series 2A
1991 Volvo 480 – wedge with pop up deadlights (bought from mother for £500)
1996 MGF VVC
1999 Elise 111s
1995 Discovery S1 (LPG)

96 1 litre powder blue and rust Nova (Feel the power!)
97 1.2 litre red nova
98 1.4 red 120k miles 205 XS with dustbin for exhaust and a porridge like gearbox (Zorts fitted by previous owner I hasten to add!)
00 1.7 Ford Puma (Nice car and nippy, good round town and capable of entertaining!)
04 2 litre 406 coupe SE (leather air con rep mobile m-way monster, bit soggy but would have another)
05 2 1/4 side valve petrol (Probably, may be a 1.6) S1 Landrover with fuel leak and compression of about 1:1.5 but starts first time every time

1992 (cant remember) Austin Allegro 1.4 Estate (shared with tom - rats ate it)
1995 (ditto) Yugo something or other special edition (shared with tom - rats ate it again - doh)
2000 (G reg) Mk2 Golf 1.4 (sold)
2003 (N reg) Mk3 Golf 2.0 Gti 8v (sold)
2004 (52 plate) Mk4 Golf pd150 anni (sold)

Merc A140 avantgarde - first car age17- far too decent a car for a first, but Maw had it and then got a co. car so I got it for 6months.
2001 smart fortwo - second car, bought myself and tweaked - still miss it age 17-20
1999 S1 Elise 21-22
2004 S2 Exige 22 - till now
whats next - probably just thevan for a bit!

I like this thread!!
1. C reg 1.6i Ford Orion Ghia with illuminated vanity mirror!!
(sold before past my test for 500 notes profit!
2. C Reg 1.0l VW Polo - absolute brilliant car, lowered big zorst, 13" alloys and a sub the size of a sky dish! (i was only 17 at the time
) i swapped it for a Clarion headunit and autochanger!
3. F reg Ford Fiesta XR2, immaculate car, lasted two weeks before i wrote it off..
4. After one year of walking everywhere (see car 3
) it was a Citroesn Saxo 1.1i, new car but no fun!!
5. R reg Subaru Impreza ProDrive saloon.. Fastest car in history - or so i thought at the time!
6. G Reg Mk2 Golf 2l 16v - heavily modified golf which i loved to bits. Took it off the road after a year to install a 2.9 VR6 engine. Car retired whilst off the road and was stripped and sold for parts!
7. 51 Reg Astra - co car, nuff said.
8. F reg ford sierra Ghia, one owner from new, 30K miles and RWD all for £250... Lasted a few weeks then punted it..
9. G Reg BMW 325i - must have looked at it in the dark cos i though it was tidy when i bought it, then the day after realised it was a death trap. Lasted two months then sold it cos i was scared..
10. 53 Reg VW Golf R32. Nice car, loved the looks and it went alright.
11. 52 Reg BMW E46 M3 - another level in terms of performance over the Golf. Still Have it but it looks like it will be going this weekend.

1996 (postfix V) Austin Mini 1.0 (neither was this)
1997 (C) Austin Metro City X 1.0
1997 (F) Austin Mini Mayfair 1.0 (crashed this in Edinburgh)
1998 (M) Ford Fiesta 1.8 DLX (crashed, but survived to be sold on)
1999 (D) Ford Sierra 1.6L (oil burner, lost keys on holiday - scrapped)
1999 (H) Ford Sierra 1.8LX (great,sold to feed desire to have another Mini)
2000 (D) Austin Mini Chelsea 1.0 (tin worm - scapped)
2000 (B) Ford Capri 1.6 Laser (emulsion paint, sold no plate, scrapped)
2001 (J) Ford Sierra 1.6LX (injection model converted back to carb? sold)
2001 (A) Ford Capri 1.6LS (4 speeder - great fun, sold)
2001 (R) Ford Puma 1.7VCT (also great fun, traded in against Elise)
2002 (P) Lotus Elise
2003 (G) Ford Granada 2.0GL (broke crank, scapped)
2004 (A) Ford Capri 1.6LS (a wreck! given away)
2004 (M) Ford Mondeo 1.8TD (
2005 (J) Audi 80 2.0E (greatest £200 car ever, traded in for £250)
2006 (prefix S) Ford Escort 1300GL (butchered for donor parts, rest sold)
2006 (M) Audi 80 Avant 1.9TDI (cambelt snapped)
2006 (N) Audi 80 Avant 1.9TDI (current motorway barge)

Averages at 1.2 cars per year since passing my test... need to calm down a bit I think.

Didnt get my first car til i was 21 and then spend the next 7 years doing long commutes and trying to afford my flat on my own.
Of them all i still miss the Cinq - would love to get one now and use it as my winter mobile

2006 - Audi A6 estate - still working
have never sold a car. Maybe because no one in there right mind would buy a car off me.
