I've just scored a Free Private Plate

Graham from MMC just called.

When they took the Elise in, it had a private plate on it. They had assumed the previous owner was removing it... so I've organised insurance etc on the original 53-plate (as we had agreed).

The tax in the window was valid until March 07, and it also had the 53-reg... so Graham organised the MOT based on that.

Anyway, he's looked at the V5... and it's got the p/plate on it? He can't understand how... and neither can I.... as the DVLA require you to surrender your Tax & V5 when doing a plate transfer. So, how the hell they are out of sync is anyones guess.

Graham double checked with the previous owner... they don't want the plate... so after confirming that I'm happy to take it, he's run along to DVLA to get the Tax Disc sorted and the MOT re-issued under the correct plate.

Weird.... Anyway, I can see 'W21 FEE' going on Ebay at some point in the future. The money is better in my pocket than it being surrendered back to DVLA. Might part pay for me to get one that is more relevant.

Anyone recognise the plate from any previous SE members?

Andy. :D

If you sell the car with it's whatever is on the V5. Previous owner would need to transfer the plate (and wait for a new V5) before selling. I'm at a loss to understand how it can have the private plate on the V5 and have the original plate on tax and MOT... :?

...anyway, congrats and get it up for sale. :)

Bit of a wifee's plate...
