Anyone ever whacked one of their wing mirrors?

Post by bobnitro » Sun Jan 14, 2007 5:25 pm

Hi Folks,

Washed and dried the elise and then reversed her into the garage, literally.
Caught the passenger wing mirror on the garage doorway. The casing was broken and the mirror part popped out. However a bit of glue and it is back together, so should do until I get a new one.

Anyone had a similar experience?..... How much for a new one?

The spring action of the mirror did it's job, so it was only the actual mirror casing that was damaged, not the arm holding it.

Thanks

Bob. :(

Some kid smashed mine with a Steven Gerrard type volley. Got a replacement glass and superglue from Halfords till I see one on Ebay.

I've got a spare Rover Metro one in red from ebay if anyone wants it - cost me a fiver. All you'd need to do is either reuse the painted part of yours (if it's usable) or respray it?

ok guys,

next question, how easy is it to take the mirror apart and replace it. It is the actual part of the mirror that is painted that i need to renew, I can pop the mirror part out no probs.

THANKS
BOB

Sorry but you can't post that because it's from the service manual and Lotus are fussy about it being posted on forums so I've deleted the link.
