Quantum Claims

Morning folks

Has anybody had any dealings with the Quantum Claims. Had an accident at work the other week, ended up with a broken arm and head split open. What caused the accident has been an issue for about 3-4 yrs, this is the second major accident and the company hasn't done much to improve things. The fact my poor elise is going to be sitting outside untouched for 6-8 weeks

is worth a claim in its self. They got recommended from a friend and just looking for other info.

Ouch! Where there is a blame there is a claim!

Where is our friendly accident claims Lawyer? GregR, job on!
OK he is a defence lawyer but he should have some tips!

If you go via quantum, they get take chunk of your overall damages PLUS their costs from the other side.

If you want to go to a good firm that pay you 100% of the settlement/award, use a recognised firm of solicitors; they cannot take any of your damages. I would recommend Digby Brown, or Lawford Kidd. If you're in a union, they will likely appoint a Firm for you.

Iâ€™m with Greg on this one (unsurprisingly).

If you go with Quantum Claims or the like you will be paying a lawyer more to do the same job and because he is instructed by QClaims you donâ€™t have the comeback which you would have if you had instructed directly.

Check your household contents insurance, a significant number of the policies have legal expenses insurance and it may be that you can pursue your claim with the insurers covering your costs.

Ps Make sure that you Solicitor sticks in a couple of extra grand for the psychological stress of being separated from your Liz.

Yeah i noticed from quantums website that you agree a fee before they start your claim, but i just assumed they all done that. A friends mum had used them and he said they were fantastic, he did say they took some of the settlement, but didn't say what %. That was all i was going on.

So do these other companys claim there costs on top of what is awarded?

Thanks Graham, going to check my insurance now to see what i have on my policy.

Really could of done without this, especially since i just ordered a new kitchen, that i was going to fit myself and a new suite, that meant the livingroom needs redecorating. Typical!! It could of been worse i suppose, it could of happened at the begining of spring. That really would of hacked me off!!!

Had an appointment with Balfour & Manson today, seemed really good, explained everything and answered all my questions. Think I was a bit naive walking in there, bit more complicated than I thought it would be, especially when their fees are involved . But definitely going with them.

One thing that did surprise me was when he explained about these claim companies you see on TV, firstly their not regulated by anyone and secondly that anyone off the street can start one up.

This should be an interesting experience, hopefully not an expensive one.
