worth doing or not.??

After thinking and re-thinking, I am going to sell the Lotus

. In order to get it looking better, I am getting the paint work into order (well the door), the paint bubbled, cracked and peeled, just above the door handle on the drivers door. It looks horrible, so I am getting it sorted. I have been quoted £100 to get it fixed.

However the question, in your opinion, is it worth fixing the front clam, just below and to the right of the number plate, where I kerb'd it and shaved a bit off.? I have also been quoted £100 for fixing that part.

I hope to get around £14,500/£15,000 for it...if the gods are smiling

Once ready I will advertise it in here, just in case anybody knows somebody looking etc. Otherwise I will use a car broker, it will be £400 plus vat for them to sell it but at least I do not have the grief of selling it and people coming to see it and all that entails.....

So should I spend another £100 to help sell it, or is that just a waste of my cash.

Dumb repair - cutting out and making good with new materials (fiberglass and gelcoat in this case) followed by prep and paint

Smart repair - Paintless chip & dent removers.

I would bin the idea of selling through a broker! You are better putting up with a small bit of hassle. Simply make sure that you will not let anyone test drive without proper insurance on the day, and you will not have any testpilot monkeys ringing you up.

To be honest, i sold my car through all the free sites, but started with a hugely expensive Autotrader ad, and then considered brokering it, but thought i would give it a little bit longer and it all paid off.

Try the following, and i am sure people will add more.

Get it up in advance, take lots of good pics (the cars that sell quickly are the ones where the owner has thought of every details, and pictures tell a thousand words. You may spend an hour composing the first ad, but you will find every one after that is easy as it is all copy and paste, even some keep the same formatting.

As for the repair, is the paint bubbling the same as Si's problem, the outcome being a full respray, as for the front clam i wouldnt bother! Just again take a picture and highlight it!

Also, what model and make is it, as word of mouth also pays of esp up in Scotland.

I'd agree with the above as far as a broker goes....an Elise should just about sell itself, as long as you deal firmly with the dreamers.

Just about every elise has a little nose damage, and the paintwork quality has been poor on many cars that I looked at. Anyone who has done a little research won't be put off by minor stuff like that.

Was talking to a friend of a friend over the holidays who was looking to buy come the spring. If you can give some details I'll happily pass them on, just in case.

But do you really wanna sell? Summer (well, the warmer rain

cheers for that, I will just fix the door then, get it looking all shiney (then not want to let it go). Its an '03 plate S2, Type 23, 17,500 miles. Once its looking at its best, I will post photos and full spec.
