He would like to be able to take off!!!!!!!!
Consider the amount of thrust required to become airbourne to allow and travel at sufficient velocity to create enough lift to take off, no chance.
The type of engine he would need would surely be a hindrance in terms of weight and the amount of heat they would generate would be unbelievable attached to your body.
The drones and model aircraft these engines power weigh nothing by comparison to the engine weight whereas the inverse is true in the jet-man. To glide and create sufficient forward propulsion to allow a 'sustained' climb is realistic, but then again you can do most of this in gliders, but to take off, nah.

With some strap on (!) rockets discarded after launch it would be a goer. Not sure I would want a bomb stapped to me though.... He would look like a firework

RATO bottles are fitted to Hercs sometimes adn they just have a bit of heat shielding between them and the fuselage, if the jet was directed away form his body he would be fine... ish.
