Flying v Driving

Post by tut » Thu Jan 18, 2007 3:14 pm

Sometimes comes up as to which is safer.

Ironic that the Managing Director of Birmingham Airport was killed on his way to work today when a tree went through his windscreen.

My guess is you posted in the "Gallery" section rather than "General Chat".

Tragic irony yes...
All characters appearing in this post are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.
Any references to laptimes, speed or driving on the public highway are purely for dramatic effect.

Tut I think you have better odds flying but less of a chance when things do go tits up!
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!

Stephen

Quite right. As a pilot I always wanted to be up front where I was driving, as you would be in your own car. Naturally I thought that I was the best, so virtually fireproof.

Big difference is you very rarely come into contact with anyone else, or have to contend with poor drivers, but when it does go wrong, it is usually in a big way.

Flying versus driving? Well the flying isnt really working out today for me as I'm stranded in the deep sarth after BA cancelled my flight home due to a stiff breeze.

Considered driving home but heard that snow around Penrith was stopping that route and anyhoo the M40 was blocked due to a stupid person having a crash and holding everyone up.

So at the moment neither are working for me as I type in my hotel room. Well at least I managed to get myself a toothbrush :)

I am off flying after my experiences before Christmas
My booked flights were Ed-London-Denver-Montrose
Due to the fog my London flight was cancelled so I took the sleeper down
My Denver flight was routed to Chicago (Denver closed due to snow storm)
I was told by staff that I had no chance of getting to Montrose for Christmas!
I call a travel agent in London who booked a flight via Houston to Durango, Colorado
I got to Houston and could not believe my eyes – the Durango plan was not going to Colorado but to Durango Mexico!
Managed to get my bags off the plane and bought more flights Telluride via Phoenix
I should have been there on Wednesday evening US time but did not arrive until Saturday
Thankfully the travel agent is paying for the both sets of extra flights
