all in all pretty good though. roads thing a bit far fetched, but the crash was pretty nuts

Seems OK back to normal really. Much sillyness and staged stuff but entertaining all the same.

usual stuff from the TG guys... 
i think our expectations are a bit higher than before just because 5th gear is so poor!
Im sure it will get better now as they have got the crash out of the way.
i still think its better than Celebrity Big Brother!

Slightly strange feel to it tonight, everything felt pretty much a precursor to the main event, hamsters crash. And what a crash!
I thought they handled it all really well, truly amazing tv. Cant believe his comment about heading for the biggest crash ever as he was getting strapped in
The usual TG knockers will moan about the cocking around on the road tarmac bit but I really enjoyed it. I wrote a 20,000 word dissertation at uni on recycling and rapid rebuilding of road surfaces, so for me it had some interest.
Probably not the best Top Gear ever but you cant continually raise the bar, it still had me thoroughly captivated for the hour, and still approximately 1.539 billion times better than the tat churned out by 5th Gear

Anyone have their ears perked by the soundtrack on the XKR feature?
The music from the point where the Aston came in was the handiwork of Monica's young cousin Dominic and his mates who go by the name Mogwai and is from their latest album Mr Beast. Levi Strauss, Channel 4 & Channel 5 have all used their music in trailers, as feature soundtracks on programs and in the case of Levi Strauss for their Superbowl advert a few years back.
If you liked it then give them a listen - they are absolutely mindblowing live. They sold out the Albert Hall last year!

I thought it was a Top Gear classic tonight, plenty action, not afraid to make fools of themselves, and Hamster being very brave etc. Natch the crash could so easily have gone the other way but surely good for the ratings and a show which is maybe a bit Evo-esque (ie, featuring machinery few of us can afford to have ever) but still great viewing. Beats Fifth Gear, but then how hard is that I guess. And note, TG still well and truly in existence unlike Driven etc.
And beats Big Brother's first hour. We watched the second part, I guess it filled a gap. But our curry was the highlight of our evening, TBH!

Looks like Aston Vantage crossed with Mondeo.
Brother said he had a run in with one the other day, his trusty 05 STI PPP was gaining on it, and the guy was trying like hell to get away from him after a roundabout.

Only saw the Road building topic and Jamie Oliver stuff but have the rest on disk to watch later. I thought Jamie Oliver tried well to beat Gordon Ramsay's time but the weather wasn't quite on his side

I really admire what Jamie has done to try and introduce healthier meals at schools and am glad to get the chance to educate nursery school children on healthy habits. One day they will be parents (some sooner than others) and Scotland really does need to improve on its unhealthy status in the World (1 in 5 children clinically obese). Trying to educate my ex-inlaws seems like a neverending struggle
Anyway nice to have TG back. At least the Freeview recorder will get used twice a week now (TG and Prison Break)
