Honda elise with new JDM engine

Post by tut » Mon Jan 29, 2007 6:07 pm

Just received this from Cowan Scott. Did not realise that his car was a left hander, but he had it converted last year with a new JDM engine, and is happy with anything above 10K.

“Thanks for getting back to me on Seloc.. I'm heading down to Sinclaires on Friday (2 am...) and leaving it down there with them for them to put a new floor on top of the old one as it was corroded. It's also having some other cosmetic work done.. You will have read the thread on seloc..

There is an interested party keen on exporting my left hooker (is going to look at it when it's down there..).. To be honest.. if I get anything over 10K I'll be happy.. I don't want to have to bring it back after Friday. New Exige S is a definite! So I'll be looking after this one properly.. and no tinkering.. should be plenty fast enough.. I also have a second vehicle now, so I'll be able to keep it from looking shabby.

anyway, I'll be in touch!

Cheers,

Cowanâ€

Would it be a mare to convert to RHD? I am sure I have read something about it before but can't remember what the conclusion was.

I can not say much, but Cowan probably does not work along the same lines as the rest of us.

It was converted by Rich of BLiNK last year, who converted my car, which with a new JDM engine is £13.5K, but he also had extras so closer to £15K.

Left hand drive or not, it is a complete giveaway if you could get it around the £10K mark.

no way is it worth that little. I havent seen a honda elise sell for under 15K, and that was for an old sh*t S1. most are near or above 20K

There were 3 on pistonheads at £18k or less last year and they hung around for a while so I doubt any converted car would go for anything like £20k. Remember, you never get the money back spent on mods and that includes engine conversions.

I appreciate that engine mods (any mods) are a waste of money, but i have seen more than 3 go for over 20K

Well Nipper's S2 is on seloc for £19k and it's an '02 base car with an '04 conversion so I think expecting £20k for an S1 is a bit optimistic.

I know that if I was on the market for a Honda modified car, I would bite Cowans hand off.

You soon learn to live with a left hander, and if you track or Stelvio abroad much, tis a big advantage.
