Sounds like rubbish to me. Why would you hand over a car to your mate with the V5 etc.? Think you're right and it's an insurance scam.

Just this has taken the shine off the car.part off the deal on price the car was needing a service and a cam belt change so will put this off for the next couple off weeks.Have spoken tp the dealer but the police have not contact him yet.But he did have the car hpi and also i did and came back ok.Also the dealer picked up the car though the trade in aberdeen and when he got the car had the log book but the service book and cd front were missing and were forward on to him.

Sounds fishier than a box of kippers. Which is a shame for you as the new owner, but at least you can rest assured theres a dealer between you and the cops / previous owner - imagine if you had bought private

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. If you want a word then PM me your number and I’ll give you a call.

I would think you are protected but the extent of the protection will depend on whether the dealer is good for the cash.

Best of luck.

Was one of NeilP`s mates not done for drink driving in December in an Elise? Maybe he can shed some light on the situation, if it is the same person who he knows.

Have you informed the garage you bought it from?

I would be asking for them to supply you with a car of similar type at their cost until this is resolved one way or another.
