Off on my stag do to riga in a couple of weeks flights are booked but need digs.

Anyone been ? if so can you recommend a hotel ?

Seen a few trying to keep to around 70quid a head for 3 nights stay and keep it central ie old town area. Prices popping up between 65 and 82.

Not been, but was suppose to be going in the next couple of weeks, but my mates other half talked him out of it coz of all that stuff in the press, which was a shame. The place looks great fun, hope you have a blast! I was quite looking forward to spending the weekend playing with an AK47, drinking cheap beer and of course ogling at the lovely ladies. We're off to the dam instead. Hoo Hum

Sorry I'm no help!

Went to Riga ages ago so I can't recommend a particular hotel, however I would highly recommend this series of guide books called "In Your Pocket". I picked one up in Riga and it was invaluable, they are written by locals so are way better than the other guide books.

There is a website http://www.inyourpocket.com/index.php
You can also download pdf guides for free.

I have used these guides travelling all over eastern europe and have not had a bad hotel yet. Also very good for Bars and Food too.

I was there for a stag do at the end of last year when there was all the fuss about getting mugged by club bouncers and dragged too a cash machine.

We just stayed in a hostel and it wasn’t anything special, sorry I can’t remember the name as one of the other guys arranged it all.

We were also in Bratislava a few months before Riga and stayed on the Botel on the river. Thought Bratislava was a bit nicer and also seemed to be cheaper.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Well guys, I'm going to Riga as well, with the family, form April 1st to 4th.
But of course, family trip, so no nightlife or drinking.

And I really should have done this in the past. After all, my father's from Jekabpils (a little town <100 miles from Riga), and we've never been there.

Wonder how's it going to turn out, none of us speak Latvian... (and we want to visit Jekabpils by train on a day!).
