Scottish Elises

Hi all,

Love the new car, but.. I'm a little concerned with the amount of water that's got in somehow ,mainly on the drivers side floor. The carpet is absolutely soaked right through. It's been out in very rainy conditions, but this shouldn't be happening.

Has anybody any idea where it could be coming from? It can't just be from getting in and out with wet feet.

Apart from that ,the car is an absolute dream

Assuming it's not the roof, it'll be a faulty seal under the front clam. I allegedly had mine replaced but it made no difference but it's a clam off job so I'd go back to MMC with it.

I sometimes get a couple of drops in really heavy rain, but sounds like something is amiss elsewhere.

check it with a hose, see if you can trace it. after that, go to MMC! HTH

As McKean says, definitely try to trace it first with a hose. I had a serious amount of water (about an inch deep!) in my passenger side footwell during heavy rain last December and when I asked MMC to look at it, they never bothered their @rse taking the clam off like I asked them. They had the car for 10 days and didn't fix anything because they said they couldn't find a leak. I explained that they didn't need to test and find if water was getting in . . . I know it was! I didn't imagine it!

So, find out yourself first where it's getting in with a hose and then demand they do whatever is necessary to fix it. Don't accept their crappy excuses of testing it and not find a leak. If you know there's a leak, demand that they bloody well fix it!

Didn't Cowan buy his car from Hexham?

I'd be interested in feedback of how well Hexam perform as Lotus Dealers

No idea, I was assuming MMC was his nearest dealer and as it's a warranty problem he'd be going there.

Cowan, it's a known problem so just go straight to MMC or whoever and get them to sort it. If it's the same as mine, you won't be able to see the water coming in, I could never trace it as it seems to only happen when I drive it in the rain, blasting with a hose doesn't do it.

Nope Hexham are indeed closer to Castle Douglas than MMC

Has anyone else used Hexham for a Lotus service or repair?

I keep goldfish in the boot of my Exige

I bought it in Hexham..

Closer to me than Edinburgh.
The service is second to none! would advise them to anyone

It's going in next week Tuesday, and should get it back on Friday.

My dad has dealt with them on many occasions as well, and they have been top notch every time. Very helpful guys who take a genuine interest in their customers. Can't praise them enough.
