i was in the same pickle when i bought mine. ended up by chance getting one with the hardtop. as in your case, mine lives outside 365 of the year. took the hardtop off on day 2 of ownership, acquired a bag for it shortly after that, and have never even considered using it (the roof), as even in winter, put a hat on, and maybe some gloves, and because the heater works so well you're fine...
i'm keeping mine as emergency reserve for when i'm completely broke as they're prob always going to be worth £500-600 (i hope)..
it's def worth getting an elemental showercap for it though, as the roof will leak a bit. chuck it on when the cars tucked up at home, as it keeps bird sh*t etc off it, and it's handy to use when roof's off and your parked up in town to try and stop pikeys chucking chips etc into it...
