Hardtop Important?

Hey all,

So, as ever, in a flux as to getting an S2 as the sole car or an S1 for me and a shopping cart for the missus.

Going the S1 route, how important is a Hardtop, the car will live outside 24/7 365 days a year and not sure if a canvass roof would be ok or if its worth finding one with a tin roof? (i know they all leak, just wondering if it minimises the pain

)

Tom has a hardtop, he has never fitted it and it lives under his bed. His car lives outside and he uses a shower cap to stop the leaks.

I manage fine without one. it was my biggest priority on buying the car to also buy a hard-top, but after a few roof-off runs decided against it.

I only just got round to buying an elemental showercape in the last fortnight. Should have done it ages ago, no more wet car! I actually use this one, whereas my old shower cape was a pain and was never on.

I was keen to get one when I got the car. Drove it up from down south with it on. Took it off when I reached Glasgow and have not had it on since. Lives under my bed.

i was in the same pickle when i bought mine. ended up by chance getting one with the hardtop. as in your case, mine lives outside 365 of the year. took the hardtop off on day 2 of ownership, acquired a bag for it shortly after that, and have never even considered using it (the roof), as even in winter, put a hat on, and maybe some gloves, and because the heater works so well you're fine...

i'm keeping mine as emergency reserve for when i'm completely broke as they're prob always going to be worth £500-600 (i hope)..

it's def worth getting an elemental showercap for it though, as the roof will leak a bit. chuck it on when the cars tucked up at home, as it keeps bird sh*t etc off it, and it's handy to use when roof's off and your parked up in town to try and stop pikeys chucking chips etc into it...

it is worth spending a few extra quid and getting the elemental showercap, rather than one of the cheaper ones. as woody said, they're miles better.

This elemental shower cape i take it it just pops over the roll bar and the windscreen? - any piccys?

2 foam bits at front. 1 goes under wiper blade, the other goes under the the other side of the bonnet. plastic clip either side goes through wing mirrors. elastic tails go round roof tails, or with roof off wee plastic bit goes into wee hole where roof attaches.

well worth it. you can get from hanger111 i think but i bought mine from the guy. good bloke to chat to (brian i think), maybe even sneaky discount, i paid by cheque i think and he knocked a few quid off

Was down in Berwick this weekend, didnt see any elises tho, was really nice on saturday too - some fantastic roads down there.

weather was good here on Sat though. car's only just moved down here from edinburgh. have found a sneaky spot for it, hopefully away from the seagull sh*t. they seem to crap like Albatrosses(?-plural of albatross?).
