More Glasgow advice please

OK, going for a short break next week (Tues-Thurs nights) staying at the
Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor at the junction of Byres Rd & Great Western Rd.
Will be taking the Uberbarge, but the hotel parking is limited, as in:
"There are 15 free spaces adjacent to the hotel and 30 more on the top level of the nearby Somerfield multi-storey car park."
Has anyone had any experience of these parking "facilities"? Looking for any advice, is there a charge? CCTV?, don't want to find my car vandalised/gone one morning...
Also, looking for suggestions of things to do with an 8yr old girl & a 5yr old boy, you know, things like Science Museum, Xscape etc, things to keep my missus out of the shops (& me out of AMP3 to buy a bullet cam

)
Thanks again in advance of any help in these two points above

The "somerfield"carpark is the roof level of the carpark for ths shops - it is shared with the hotel and some flats. It is going to be safer than on street round the front of hotel- you wouldnt know its there from Byres Road and after the supermarket shuts nobody but flat residents goes up there.
As for what to do with the kids, I have no idea. Give them to someone else?

Transport museum amd Kelvingrove museum worth a look - close together & both free, depending on your level of interest could fill anything from an hour or so up to full day.

Glasgow Science Centre with its IMAX and Tower certainly a possible. Re-furbed Kelvingrove Museum is kid friendly - they like the full size stuffed animal section with Spitfire overhead - lunch in Mother India Cafe opposite recommended. Museum of Transport round the corner - railway stock, model boats and a few cars. Botanic Gardens are opposite your hotel - big glasshouses to walk thro' if its wet - or through Gardens to River Kelvin - they can feed the nasty grey squirrels.

I park the Lotus in front of the Hilton or one street up - Kew Terrace - a lot of the time - no instances to date (touch wood)
Just turn up the street between RBS and Antipasti ( Observatory Rd) then 1st right to the end of the street!

I now no longer park on roof car parks where possible, after being attacked by a Seagul on the top of Waterloo Street car park.
It wasn't the fact that the bugger was dive-bombing me (scary as it was).. it was the fact that the people in the offices could see me running for cover and jigging about like a mad-man waving my hands about over my head.
Heading back to my car to get some tools while doing some work at JP Morgan... After running the gauntlet, I took the easy option of driving the car down 1 level before getting out and walking back to JP's.
That bird was on a mission...

Well they do say the elise is a bird puller
When you going to be in the town? Could be a reason to visit ashton lane while the misses sticks the kids in the bath

I would advise *not* parking in either the Hilton Grosvener's own car park, or the Somerfield one. The Hilton one is tiny, tight and they want your keys in case they need to move your car. The Somerfield one also has tight spaces liable to door-bashing and I don't think it feels like a very secure carpark.
I'd go with Rob's advice and park on the streets he's mentioned. Just my opinion, but I would definitely park my Elise on those streets rather than in either of those carparks.
As for activities, I definitely recommend the Science Centre. I used to work there and it's great for adults and kids. Make sure you catch a planetarium show (what I used to do

). I still have friends who work there, so let me know what day you might be going and I can see about getting free entry for you to the Science Centre (although you'd still need to pay for the planetarium and/or IMAX cinema separately). 2 adults and 2 kids? Let me know and I can hopefully get free tickets put behind the desk in your name. PM me details if you're interested.
